My four and six year old children loved this book! They laughed out loud as each page was turned. The drawings are simple, clear and colorful with happy, friendly sea creatures. The giant squid is a likable character who is proud to be the biggest thing in the ocean. When the unexpected happens, it goes with the flow and makes the best of its new situation. The bonus bathtub clings were also a huge hit with my kids. They have them all over the tub and are now creating their own versions of this wonderful story. This new author /illustrator is talented and one I want to watch!

I am a teacher and a mother of three young children (a 4 yr old girl and twin 3 yr old boys). My three loved this book and had me read it over and over again. They laugh out loud each time we read it. I can even see it being used in the classroom - having young children write their own book and being, "The biggest thing in their world". I loved this author's concept and hope he has many more to come.

this is about a giant squid who goes around the ocean showing us how he's bigger than everything, and you can tell he's really proud of this fact, in a fun way. then a whale comes behind him and eats him in all of his glory and he's shocked for a second. but then he looks around at all of the other animals in the whale and then proclaims happily that he's the biggest thing in the whale. it's an optimistic book about a squid who happy with who he is enough to see how he's great no matter the situation. it's short, but it's good to read out loud and has bright, colourful pictures.

This is a daily read for my 2 and 5 year-old boys. "Big in the Ocean", as my little guy calls it, is a wonderful book: a simple but compelling story, a great lesson, lots of little creatures to count, and good practice for beginning readers. Both boys adore the book, and the 5 year-old oftens reads it to his brother. Together they count shrimp, clams and fish, whisper when the shark appears, and giggle with glee at the end. They love it so much, I'm buying another copy for their school!

The clings look like fun, but would probably end up in the 2 YO's mouth, so I'll hold off using for a year.

Illustrations, limited text, and story line make this perfect for three and four year olds! Subtle, but good lesson can be learned.

My soon-to-be 2 year old grandson just loves this book. Apparently there are cut out sea creatures that he now has hanging near the bathtub.

My 2-year-old has gone nuts for this book. The story is wonderfully understandable and the art is fantastic. And for $16.99 (list) you get color, a gatefold, and best of all--bathtub stickies!

This book is great and the kids I work with love it. I also met Kevin Sherry and he was so great and really excited about the book. And the cling stickers that come with are an added bonus!

My daughter is only 8 months old, but we've been reading this book to her since she was born. Before any other book, she seemed to be interested in paying attention to these pictures, which are beautiful and fun. We also love the story, which teaches you to be humble and optimistic all at the same time.

The last-page punchline of this book is great for adults--there's something about the poetic justice followed up by an almost criminal optimism--but my 1-yr-old daughter also loves it. One can never explain why she loves the books she loves, but this is the hit of the month.
