This is a great game. Once you get the hang of it, it's hours of fun. Perfect balance of arcade and simulation. A great game to play with friends or online. The mini games add another element of fun. I think that this is a game that is what it is advertised to be.

1.0 out of 5 stars This game sucks
I hate this game with a passion. I thought it would be like MLB Slugfest, which was fun, quirky and had intuitive controls. In this game it seems like fielding and base running would be easier to master in real life than it would in the game. I've had innings were it was impossible to get any outs because everything is either a base hit or a home run and your fielders can...

This is a great game. Once you get the hang of it, it's hours of fun. Perfect balance of arcade and simulation. A great game to play with friends or online. The mini games add another element of fun. I think that this is a game that is what it is advertised to be.

Not a lot of change since the last game, but there wasn't to much more you can do to top the last one and what was lacking was added. I mean there's New & improved story mode, picking up at the end of the "Rookie Challenge" mode from The Bigs. Where you Create a player and progress your career from a Mexican league to the Majors and, eventually, the Hall of Fame. Along the way, compete in boss battles against MLB legends.

I also like the batters wheel house which show you the batters sweets spot.

This game is not too easy and not too hard if you play it long enough you appreciate it. Don't think the first time you pick it up you're going to be a pro... lol takes a few times on the sticks to get good, but once you got you got it.

And you'll soon learn that strategy is key to winning in the BIGS!!!

AMAZING GAME OVERALL-

con: online problems connection to games on the PS3.

[...]

2k suggests adding these ports

PS3 Game Room is Currently Unavailable
Unlock all the following ports (please look online at your own router for info on how to get into this manual):TCP 80, UDP 88, UDP 3074, TCP 3074, UDP 53, TCP 53, UDP 3064, TCP 1795, TCP 1745, UDP 1795, UDP 1745

Other than this online problem.

Become a Legend mode is much better and improved from the original bigs. And i read that they are already working on a Bigs 3 So i cant wait to see the improvments hopefully by then they have this online ordeal sorted out and fixed.

Because yes we didnt buy the game just to play online but it is alot of fun to do playing against people not just the computer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best sequel ever, August 18, 2009

The game play is much better than the first, more exciting ways to catch a fly ball and more ways to play this game by season or becoming a legend. I guess that's a new thing they have and took out the Rookie Challenge from the first one. I highly recommend this to any baseball gaming fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple Arcadee Fun, December 14, 2011

If you are after an exciting arcade baseball experience then look no further The Bigs 2! Great to play by yourself and even more to play with friends and family, you will really get into it once you start playing! It's interesting in the sense that it is a nice mix of that crazy arcade extremeness but at the same time still sticks to the fundamentals of baseball. You can't just button-mash in this game, you need to understand some things about baseball and the mechanics of the game! That said, it is simpler and certainly more colorful and explosive than your average baseball game!

He loves it. He plays it all the time. it was cheap. It came in a good sized box but the case was a little bended. Its fine though because the game itself was in good shape and thats all that really matters.

Ah there is nothing like a normal day at the park, fans cheering, home runs being hit and fielders leaping 20 ft in the air to catch balls. What???? Yes that is the norm for the Bigs 2. This isn't your traditional baseball game, it's better. The emphasis here is mashing home runs, and scoring Runs!!! The players are super-human( makes me wonder if they are on steroids lol.) Rack up points offensively and defensively to activate the "Big Fly" and "Big Heat." When they are worked to perfection it is a thing of beauty. I highly recommend the Bigs 2 for a change of pace baseball game.

I play this game with my 6 year old and, sadly to say, it is very competitive. This game is better than a lot of sport games that have more flash leading up to the game than the game itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is where 2K belongs, February 15, 2010

Okay, I'm an avid player of MLB: The Show series and I despise the yearly 2K Sports release of Major League Baseball games, but this game is sick. Slugfest is back, and in a big way. The controls and style of gameplay take some getting used to. But, depending on your level of skill, you can get the basic idea over the course of a few quick games. The visuals are very arcade like and very pleasing to the eye. Between the awesome home run presentations to the over the top circus style catches, The Bigs 2 delivers eye candy in a BIG way. For the price you can get it on here at a shave over $15.00. You really can't pass up this title, especially if you're an avid baseball fan, and play the games.

4.0 out of 5 stars All in all a pretty entertaining game, October 12, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Bigs 2 (Video Game)
It's not a baseball sim, but for what it is The Bigs 2 hits the mark...for me. I get VERY bored with sport sims and every once in a awhile having a fun arcade style baseball game brings back the fond memories I had when I played NFL Blitz on the N64. This is a very fast paced game, lots of big home runs and unbelievable plays. If it wasn't on special for the $29 I more than likely wouldn't have bought it, but this is a fun game especially when you have friends come over. this is a solid 4 stars in my opinion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Baseball Has Life Breathed Back in to It, September 13, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Bigs 2 (Video Game)
I lost my interest in baseball after the strikes. I used to play the games all the time and had fun with them, but once I got out of baseball, I got out of the games. I started downloading demos recently of baseball games trying to respark that fun I had many years ago, but found that I just didn't have the love of them anymore.....until I tried this. The game was simple enough for a novice to pick up and play, with enough nuances to allow a gamer to feel like they were mastering something. I went out on a limb and bought it and immediately fell in love. The game is not perfect by any stretch; and there were plenty of times I wanted to hurl my controller out the window. All that being said though, this game gave me a solid experience and I still pop it in and play a game or two even though I have beaten the Become a Legend Mode.

Props:

Solid graphics, an engaging commentary (at least as engaging as you can get for baseball), multiple game modes that all support same console multiplay, awesome special plays, multiple stadiums with their own unique celebrations and chants, a decent character creation scheme (with the BEST facial hair customization I have seen YET) including your character's attitude (how he approaches the plate, celebrates, etc.), and personally, some pretty solid replay.

Gripes:

Character creation still lacks in a lot of areas including a pretty low color selection (a color wheel would have done wonders).

Some goals are infuriating forcing you to allow the other team to get ahead of you before you can even pull them off (Example: "Perform a Legendary Catch with your character". Simple enough except for the fact that you can only perform a Legendary Catch with a Legendary Glove. The only way you get a Legendary Glove for your character is to allow the other team to get ahead thereby kicking in your special trait of "+3 to attributes when behind".......oh yeah and making sure that the next home run is hit toward YOUR guy and not the other outfielders/infielders. Oh, and also hoping that the NUMEROUS hits off your pitcher doesn't cause him to lose a pitch or three.).

Near as I can tell you can NEVER get your stats to "Legendary" unless you fall behind unless that happens after the Cooperstown completion but I would think you could at least get one or two stats "Legendary" for beating the game and retiring.

You can't seem to improve your created character outside of Become a Legend mode; meaning that your "career" player improves but can't be used in a roster outside of Legend mode and your regular created character is stuck with whatever points you assign at creation (if I am wrong about this someone PLEASE let me know how cause I would love it).

Only 3 stolen players allowed in your Become a Legend mode team (WTF?). You can hold nine, but can only have three in play. Come on now. Don't be cheap. We earned them, we should be able to use them.

Last, but not least, a few more Homerun Pinball arenas would have been nice. Four seems a little light.

All in all, a fun game with some real promise. If they continue improving the series then the next one could be close to perfect. Until that time, this is definately worth a shot.
