This isn't a baseball simulator. There is no season or franchise mode. This is a arcade style exaggeration of the sport something like the NFL and NBA Street games. However, it's a fun game to play. It's like having an espn "web gems" and "touch 'em all" highlights reel going in your default 5 inning games. Probably best to play against a friend or on-line. The gameplay is addictive, especially when your ace pitcher strikes out the side. Downside is the lack of realism, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as the real sport can be a snooze fest at times. I recommend it.

Who am I? I am someone who occasionally watches baseball, rarely ever watching an entire game. It's just too boring for me. I am also someone who rarely plays baseball video games, because I don't like the unnecessary complexity involved. For instance, why when batting should I have to choose if I want to regular hit or power hit? Don't most players try for the power (homerun hit). I enjoyed old school video games like bases loaded, because you only had 2 options, hitting and bunting (and that's the way it should be).
This game does have the added complexity (choosing batting power or style of pitch), but I like it better than most contemporary baseball games. The controls are tight and the graphics are descent. The addition of super power moves is also nice, for those like me who find the game dull. However, there are times when the quality of the game feels extremely cheap. Home-run derby mode is boring, home-runs seem lackluster, and the game is missing a season mode. In this day and age, even the silliest or cheapest baseball game should include a season mode. Make sure you get it at a budget price, because it truly is a budget game.
