Best Indian Cook Book,
This review is from: Bijanita -- Authentic Indian Cuisine (Paperback)
Finally an Indian cookbook that has given me the boost and encouragement I have needed to get over my inhibition to cook Indian. With each dish I have prepared from this book, it has sparked my interest to try another and then yet another one, each time receiving rave reviews from my friends and family. I especially love the wide range of non-vegetarian dishes, ranging from lamb, to fish to shrimp. The spice measurements have been very accurate, something I have found to be a discrepancy with other Indian recipes that I have read and tried. The recipes in this book are simple to read and follow, full of useful general tips as well. You will not be disappointed!

Best Indian Cookbook!!,

This review is from: Bijanita -- Authentic Indian Cuisine (Paperback)
If you're looking for the simplest Indian cookbook that delivers exquisite
and sumptuous Indian dishes, then this is your book. All of the major Indian dishes are covered in this book and I've cooked almost all of them with rave reviews from family and friends. The recipes are appropriate for non-Indians, Indians, beginner and advanced cooks. You will not be disappointed by this "must-have" reference for your culinary library.

No index, spotty translations, no organization,
By Peter S. Oliphant, Ph.D. (Rising Sun, Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bijanita -- Authentic Indian Cuisine (Paperback)
While the recipes are good, the names of the dishes are translated about only one-half the time; the recipes are not organized in any fashion, other than the random sequence of an Indian-language or English-language name; and there is no index. This is not acceptable in the days of word processing, and the book is pretty much useless. Look elsewhere until Anita Basak does a revision up to half-way professional standards.
