grew up in Iowa, where she often visited the lofty bluffs of Pikes Peak State Park. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, and worked as a journalist in Iowa, before deciding to check out Colorado's Pikes Peak. She has lived in Colorado for 17 years, working as a writer and editor for the Colorado Springs Gazette, where she now covers all aspects of outdoor recreation.
