3.0 out of 5 stars Eh, didn't really inspire me to new heights...
Not the greatest book. It is older and there is so much info and it's hard to apply it in real life. Maybe I didn't really give it a chance but it didn't do anything to motivate me. Just made me tired. LOL

The authors have done a good job of integrating mind/body into a holistic approach to health. Recipes are excellent, food is delicious and workouts are hard! Not for the faint of heart. This regimine will require 100% effort to succeed, particularly if you work full time and have a family. Each morning you are required to write in a journal, meditate and do 15 minutes of yoga. In addition each day requires a 30 - 60 minute walk, a 40 minute strength routine, and on alternate days an additional "core" workout for the abs. Plan on spending about 2 hours a day on just these parts. In addition, there is a lot of prep. time in the kitchen. All food is very close to it's natural state and is loaded with veggies, fresh marinades, and sald dressings. Each of these is made from scratch and requires a lot of time. Still, it is an excellent program and I don't see how they could have done it any easier. I suggest buying the fresh ginger and garlic, chopped in jars (as they suggest) and vegetables already chopped etc. to make it easier. Expect your kitchen to be full of dishes constantly if you follow their eating plan closely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fitness, spa style, May 26, 2007
The name of the book makes it sound like just another tone up for bikini exercise regimine, but actually it is a wholistic approach including: a food plan with recipes, circuit routines, yoga moves, meditations, journaling prompts, and spa treatments for body, face, etc. The spa treatments are made of grocery items. The flavors for the food are mostly Mexican or Asian inspired, using a back-to-basics approach of all natural food. I'm really enjoying the book and seeing results after just a week into it (so far).

5.0 out of 5 stars love it, August 19, 2007
i read the book and loved the vibe, i just felt like everything in it suited the type of person i am. i think that is important when you are trying to incorporate a new habit into your life. i've never seen myself as sporty and i hate to think of myself as a dieter, this book helps me see my efforts to stay in shape and eat well in a different light, one that reflects more of who i feel i am.

so i was excited to try it, and now, i'm nearly ten days in and i LOVE it. i see the results in my body and the way my clothes fit, although not so much on the scale, yet. i think i lost one or two lbs. but the main thing is that it's finally something that i feel i can easily keep doing, because i like it and it makes me feel great!
most of the recipes are fantastic, i haven't felt at all like i'm dieting - except that the breakfasts are generally really light, and i get hungry in the morning.

anyway, i just wanted to say i highly recommend it, especially for anyone who is already into yoga, meditation, and natural food.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bikin Bootcamp, January 17, 2008
I order books from Amazon constantly, both for work references as well as for pleasure. And although I know I should write the reviews, I never do. Until now. This book was amazing! I already work out at the gym and lift weights but was bored and needed something new. The exercises in this book hit body parts I have never worked before; especially beneficial for the female hip/thigh/butt area! As for the recipes, they were absolutely incredible! A few of them did take a little more time than I usually put into cooking, but the reward was well worth it! There were a number of ingredients I have never tried before or wasn't too keen on, but I knew I wasn't getting enough fruits and vegetables in my current diet so I committed myself to being open minded for the two weeks. To my surprise I truly enjoyed everything I made and even had fun making it! I enjoyed the foods so much and was so excited about all of the new flavors that I would take samples into work everyday for my co-workers to try. They are now all big fans of the Bikini Bootcamp recipes as well! I feel so great that I certainly plan to continue this lifestyle and hope to one day actually visit the inspirational authors at their Amansala resort.

5.0 out of 5 stars It provided everything I expected/needed to know and more..., October 15, 2007

The authors have done a great job coming up with ways to get fit using items in the home. There's no reason that anyone couldn't do this! I've also tried some of the recipes in the back. They use common ingredients and actually taste good!

The only reservation I've had is finding time to fit in the different exercise "circuits" suggested each day. I'm working on it!

5.0 out of 5 stars It works, May 11, 2010

I purchased this book on Friday. Read it on Saturday and started the workout routine on Sunday. I didn't follow the diet because although the recipes sound amazing, I just didn't have the time what with working out at least 2 hours most days. I did eat a low calorie diet consisting mostly of lean cuisine forzen meals. Anyway I went out with my friends on Friday after just one week of following the plan and they definitely noticed a difference. So it works but you do need to committ the time. Today is day 10 for me and I know I have lost more than 5 pounds. I may have lost more but unfortunatly I didn't weigh myself before I started. My jeans that didn't fit me a couple of weeks ago do fit me now so I have difintely lost inches.

5.0 out of 5 stars this book is amazing, helped me get in shape, January 28, 2010
This book has alot to offer! Hopefully those who read this have the time too but don't give up or get overwhelmed; just do what you can. :) This book starts you off slowly but at the end of each daily work out there is a pamper me recipe or how to; those are amazing (pretty sure I would be lagging w/o them) The yoga and breathing excercises really helped with everything (school, working full time, social life, working out) and eventhough I slipped up alot because of time, the work outs are great (there are ab work outs, carido circuits, and walking - have you ever heard of a program with walking?!?) If you're more advanced, increase the reps of things and try jogging or longer time walking. If you slip up on meals, try to find something similar that's easier or drink a protein shake like I did; if you don't like a meal on one of the days planned out, substitute an other days meal. It's alot of work but losing weight is a life style change not an overnight fix like we want. Just keep up the hard work and reward yourself (not with food) but with a mani/pedi, painting, day off from work, whatever makes you happy really. It didn't take me two weeks to lose 10lbs (and still counting!)or get the bikini body but it showed me how to do everything and help me get through life; how to be a better me, be more relaxed, and aprreciate life.

IT'S NOT JUST A WORK OUT BOOK, IT'S A BOOK THAT CHANDED MY MIND, BODY, AND SOUL. (corny i know, but true)

*** i just wish i could afford the trip to the bikini boot camp in Tulum, Mexico

....maybe one day....

4.0 out of 5 stars Love the book, May 30, 2007
This book is well written and takes a well rounded approach to health and fitness, which is refreshing. However, it is difficult to follow the program if you have an already busy schedual. I would still recomend this book to any person who wants address all the issues involved in losing weight (mind, body, soul).
