From Booklist

If there’s one thing most women can relate to no matter their age, it’s the fight against fat. Erin Merritt feels she’s losing that battle—she’s getting married in six months, and she can’t fit into her wedding dress. She decides the first step to losing weight is quitting her cooking club. When she announces this, it turns out the three other women in the group were planning to quit. Rather than disband, they create the Teeny Bikini Diet Club, determined to shed the pounds by swimsuit season. The four women, all different ages, create a lively and encouraging support system for each other in their diets and in their everyday lives. Each woman diets for a separate reason, whether it’s the wedding dress or on doctor’s orders, but their steps forward (and occasional step back), combined with the fact that none of their sizes, before or after, are mentioned, add up to a reassuring, feel-good read. --Hilary Hatton --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

This book was such fun to read. It's a wonderful story about friendship and learning more about yourself. I just loved it. I generally read high crime, so if you don't typically read these types of books... then give this one a try. You won't be sorry. You wind up really liking these characters. I had a nice time getting to know them, the read is easy to follow. Makes you want to see what happens next. I was suprised, generally the only page turners I like are the high crime/suspense books. This one is well worth the read. I will be reading ALL of Sheila Roberts future books. Her book On Strike for Christmas is also a great read. Even though the holidays are over, it would still make a nice read anytime of year.

I tried to like this book, but thumbing through it and finally slogging through the chapters, the storyline and characters just didn't grab me. First of all, most of the focus was on Erin, and I found myself disliking her from the first two pages, because she sounded like she might be a Bridezilla, and her fiance, although moody, "cheap" and controlling, wasn't really a bad guy. I knew from the first chapter that she was going to dump him at the end in favor for her old high school buddy, the carefree grocery store checker/musician, who she kept trying to deny her strong attraction to. I knew this because she was constantly namecalling and insulting him in her private thoughts, yet 'he looked so good in his gym shorts.' Honestly. How many times have we seen this in a chick lit novel?

And here is the second beef I have with the book. The other three women in the weight loss support group do nothing but whine about their weight. I hate to bring race into this, but Kizzy is presented as the "token" black woman. She has a loving husband who loves junk food, has a weight problem himself, but loves her the way she is. (and surprise, surprise, there are constant references to his love for her posterior and how he doesn't want to lose the 'junk in her trunk'.) Stereotypes much?
Megan is the "smart" one, the career driven lawyer. She kind of reminds me of the heroine of the short lived TV show "Drop Dead Diva" for some reason. I really liked her, and I liked Megan too. But there wasn't enough about her, other than her hating herself for her weight and her dislike for the plastic women who work in her law firm. Towards the end there is a hint of a romance with her superior, but you are left hanging as to where that goes, because most of the focus in on Erin and her wedding.

I whipped through this book, thoroughly enjoyed it. It's light, fun reading, with characters that you root for (even when you want to shake sense into them.) I picked this up yesterday evening, and couldn't put it down. I'm on vacation and this is exactly the type of story I was looking for. And it even has recipes in the back.

I absolutely LOVED this book and I hope that Ms. Roberts continues with a sequel. This is a "can't put it down" book, as well as, "I never want this book to end". Absolutely fun and very light-hearted!!

This book proves what every woman knows - everything, even dieting, is easier (and even fun!) with your girlfriends. This story has everything but calories -- humor, romance, emotion and plenty of head-nodding moments. Not to be missed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Yes, it is light-hearted and light reading. But that's why I read ~ to escape reality for an hour or so a day. Characters in most romance books are gorgeous, rich (or extremely poor and fall in love with a rich man), have perfect jobs, perfect lives, etc. I could relate to these characters problems with weight and not liking themselves because of it. Maybe this will inspire me to set goals for my own bikini season.

Definitely a read for summer. It is about 4 women trying to lose weight for different purposes. It's light and the story goes smoothly. Recommend it if you have spare time. (There are also useful recipes at the end.)

Female friendships can be so profound and multi demensional. In some cases, they are the longest lasting relationships in a woman's life. Sheila Roberts does not even begin to build story line or dialogue between these women. Other reviewers have mentioned superficial. I agree. These women could have been wise, brilliant, confident...everything to one another. But with the focus on chocolates and wedding dresses, all was lost in character development.

Want to read a wonderful story on female friendships? Try TALK BEFORE SLEEP by Elizabeth Berg. For lighter recommendations that still have substance and a wonderful story, may I suggest ANGRY HOUSEWIVES EATING BON BONS by Lorna Landvik or BETWEEN FRIENDS by Debbie Macomber.

Seriously - don't buy this. The publisher must have been desperate for something to go to print....
