Keeps my 16 month old entranced, October 11, 2004
This review is from: Bilingual Baby, DUTCH, Vol 9 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My toddler does not watch too much TV/videos. He got bored w/Baby Mozart after it was all we had for a couple of months and I've found only a few others which interest him. (He does love Baby MacDonald, though.)
When I got this video from the local library, I was so excited because my son has a cousin who is Dutch. They have never met, but they will soon. I would like my son eventually to learn Dutch to have this in common with my nephew. I realize he will not "learn Dutch" watching this, but I hope his exposure to some of the sounds and simple words will give him an advantage when he spends time with his cousin and in Holland.
While most cartoons and TV shows cannot hold his interest for more than 2-4 minutes, he will watch this video most of the way through (occasionally wondering around the room to do something else, then returning).
I'm going to try to get a copy for keeps.

Very good for simple ideas, April 23, 2008

I like that this movie has pure Dutch with images, versus trying to say "Dog", "Hond." The child associates the picture with the Dutch word. My daughter is 2 and she likes it. It's not her favorite movie, but she'll watch it with me and learns some basic phrases, sentence structure, and the sounds of the language. It's a good intro to Dutch and helped me learn too!
