5.0 out of 5 stars Gospel Music ... Born Again!, August 24, 2002

This review is from: Bill and Gloria Gaither - Ryman Gospel Reunion (DVD)
Well, here's how it all began...again.

I realize Bill and Gloria and most of their friends have been writing and singing great gospel songs long before I was even thought of. But when Bill Gaither gathered dozens of his friends together for a 1995 TV special that aired on TNN, it was a fresh new beginning that would eventually bring millions of people (me being one) to see that southern gospel music is somthing that everyone can enjoy and feel His power first hand!

This special is the one that spawned hundreds of great videos and DVD's that we've enjoyed over and over. See how it all began! Keep'em comin' Bill! See you all on tour!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ryman Gospel Reunion, January 17, 2000

I found this video to very different from the studio videos but having been to the Ryman, I enjoyed the comments made by the singers, themselves. This was a very interesting video, just listen to what Vetsal Goodman has to say about the Ryman. If you've never been there, you don't know what you are missing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Live from the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, July 2, 2011

Produced in 1995, this is the first nationally televised Homecoming Concert. An energetic cast of many of the original Homecoming Friends and a sold out enthusiastic audience add a dimension of excitement to the performance and the sense of inspiration and worship to this program.

The concert is packed with gospel favorites, inspiring narratives, and a fast moving tempo of praise and worship. I especially enjoyed Farther Along featuring Ivan Parker and Sweet Beulah Land with Squire Parsons and the Homecoming friends. Another favorite of mine was the Lighthouse sang by Buddy Mullins.

Favorites of the audience include: I Never Shall Forget the Day sung by the Speers, Wait'll You See My Brand New Home featuring Jesse Dixon, and I'm Feeling Mighty Fine with a unique piano arrangement featuring Anthony Burger.

A unique feature of the earlier Homecoming Concerts is the number of songs featuring the entire cast backing up short fast moving solos from featured individual artists. This is classic Gaither. Inspiring worship and awesome praise.
