5.0 out of 5 stars With a tribute to Rex Nelon, June 10, 2010
By
One of the highlights of this London Homecoming performance is the tribute to Rex Nelon 1932-2000. Rex Nelon, a beloved member for years had a heart attack the night before the concert. I can't pinpoint what I enjoyed about Rex, but he was so memorable, that deep voice, the full head of white hair, etc. The tribute was addressed by Bill and they chose a beautiful song in honor of Rex, "The Old Rugged Cross Made the Difference" by Guy Penrod. Gaither Vocal Band sings "He Came Down to My Level." Together (Amaray).

The setting is the beautiful Westminster Central Hall and we see a glimpse of London, and little comedy by Mark Lowry. Don't miss the beautiful and rousing piano solo by Anthony Burger, "Great Is Thy Faithfulness / How Big Is God / How Great Thou Art." The Best of Anthony Burger.

Another highlight is by Allison Durham Speer, "Because He Lives"; a Bill & Gloria Gaither song. I am not quite familiar with Allison yet, but once you hear that voice, she becomes recognizable. I am to assume she is related to the Speer Family. The Best of Russ Taff Russ Taff sings "We Will Stand"; and enjoy the upbeat "Highway to Heaven" and "I'm Standing on the Solid Rock"; and an old favorite "Looking for a City" with Sue Dodge.

The Hoppers are here, "I Am"; The Easters "Morning's Coming"; Ivan Parker sings "He's On Time"; and of course you can' help standing on your feet listening to Jessy Dixon for the rousing "Highway to Heaven" and "The Night Before Easter".

Jake Hess and the Goodmans, Joy Gardner, are here too.
Other songs include: Come On Children, Let's Sing; Walk Together Children; Too Much To Gain To Lose; O, How I Love Jesus/To Me, It's So Wonderful; Give You The Praise; My Jesus, I Love Thee... This is, as usual, enjoyable, and rest in peace, Rex Nelon..... Rizzo

4.0 out of 5 stars Homecoming Friends with the Gaithers Filmed at Westminster Central Hall in London, England, July 5, 2011
This review is from: Bill & Gloria Gaither - London Homecoming [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Program highlights include a number of ensembles, made up from combinations of the Homecoming Friends Team, featured special arrangements of: Looking for a City, I'm Standing on the Solid Rock, Oh How I Love Jesus, and Highway to Heaven.

My personal favorites include: He's on Time featuring Ivan Parker, Because He Lives featuring Allison Durham Speer, and Anthony Burger playing a piano medley combining Great is Thy Faithfulness, How Big is God, and How Great Thou Art. The Gaither Vocal Band gave outstanding performances singing "He Came Down to My Level" and "The Old Rugged Cross Made the Difference."

Other featured artists include: Jessy Dixon, Stephen Hill, Mike Allen, Johnny Minick, The Hoppers, Russ Taft, The Easters, Jake Hess, Sue Dodge, Mary Tom Speers, and many others.

Gloria Gaither added a sense of inspiration with her narratives. Mark Lowry was on hand to introduce a touch of humor. A fast moving concert offering praise, worship, and testimony

5.0 out of 5 stars Near Perfect, December 19, 2001
By A Customer
Hey Music Lovers, this is a high quality recording that has Dolby Digital 5.1 that is great. There is well defined sound separation on the guitars. I play quiet a bit of gospel music and am very particular as to what I listen to. This DVD more than passes the test. For those piano players, there is a solo done by Anthony Berger that is the best that I have ever seen or heard. He showboats a little but if I could play like that, I would too. The only thing that I did not like was a small amount of artifact noise in a couple of the later songs. There is also a tribute to one of their fellow singers that died in the hotel only a few hours before they went on stage.

4.0 out of 5 stars London Homecoming, August 23, 2001

This DVD is excellent, I think the Gaithers should make all their videos avaible o DVD the picture quality is so clear, the video is, as always, tops, form the opening song (Come on Children lets sing) by Kim hopper to the closing hymn by the Vocal Band ( The old Rugged Cross made the differance) Its all because of the Old Rugged Cross and what more could be a reason to sing. Also some of my favorite homecoming friends, Sue Dodge, Jeff & Sheri Easter add to this video, Mark Lowry is as always, Mark, keeping Bill Giather on his toes!!
