5.0 out of 5 stars utterly bodacious !
This is brilliant, and has inspired many imitations, but none come close to this unique, goofy comedy that reminds me more of the silent screen gems than of what has passed for funny in recent years.

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Film Dude!
The excitement and fun begin when a trio of interplanetary rulers dispatch a cool hipster from the 27th century to send two teenage boys - who should have been studying history instead of playing rock music - on a trip through time and history.

This is one of my all-time favourite comedies ever. It's just very memorable. No one ever forgets a film like this one. It has...

This is brilliant, and has inspired many imitations, but none come close to this unique, goofy comedy that reminds me more of the silent screen gems than of what has passed for funny in recent years.

The pairing of Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves was a stroke of genius...they work so well together, and are so convincing as naive airheads that some people, DUH ! actually believe this is what these marvelous actors are like in real life..NOT ! This is great acting, folks. Wonderfully written, the premise is hilarious and all the characters so perfectly cast. I love Al Leong as Genghis Khan. His antics in the mall never fail to make me roar with laughter..."we've got a live one !".

With every viewing, I see more details to amuse me...and it has an endearing, sweet spirit that warms my heart...and always remember: "Be excellent to each other !".

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Excellent!!!! - but probably only if you saw it when you were a kid, May 1, 2006
I lived on this movie when I was in grade school. It changed my life. Keanu Reeves was my first celebrity crush. My friends and I would watch it, laugh, and swoon over Keanu. We even "wrote" a script for the never made 3rd movie we entitled, "Bill and Ted's Triumphant Trip." I'm sure someone heard that somewhere, I don't think we were quite that creative. Anyway, we wanted to be the princesses that Bill and Ted save from being married off! I started wearing Converse.

That said, a few years ago, when I showed it to someone who didn't grow up watching it - they didn't see what the big deal was. They laughed at a few scenes, but nothing to write home about. Great movie if you've seen it before... Eh if you haven't. Oh, and skip the second one. Not worth your time, minus the scene with the game(s) against the Grim Reaper. The premise was a great, but failed/ruined concept. That Reaper scene is still worth a watch, TiVo it and fastforward to that part.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!, January 28, 2002

(REAL NAME)
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter play two most excellent dudes from San Dimas who are in desperate need of passing history. Otherwise Ted(Keanu) is being sent to col. Oates military academy in Alaska by his dad. Bogus! With the help of Rufus (played by George Carlin), they have a most excellent adventure through time. Along the way, they pick up NApolean(short, dead dude),Billy the Kid, Socrates, Sigmund Freud, JOan of Arc, Ghengis Kahn, Beethoven, and Abraham Lincoln. Oh, and they also meet two beautiful babes from England. Bill and Ted must not be seperated because it's extremmely urgent that they get their band 'Wyld Stallyns' under way. *air guitar*
A must-see most excellent movie, dudes!

5.0 out of 5 stars Iron Maiden? EXCELLENT!, June 11, 2000
First off, IT IS NOT MOZART IT IS BEETHOVEN! Ok now since that is cleared up here we go. Great movie, I can never get sick of it it is a masterpiece ecspecially when Bill and Ted introduce the historical figures to "Missy,I mean mom" Dennis Freud, Maxine of Arc, Herman the Kid, Socrates Johnson, Dave Beethoven, (pronounced Beeth Oven) Bob Gengis Khan and uh Abe Lincoln that part is classic. I also love when Nepolean becomes a Ziggy Piggy, the other two parts I like are when Sigmund Freud is being interrogated by the cop and Sigmund says to the cop "Tell me about your mother" (funny part) and when Nepolean goes bowling and he slides down the alley and he starts say S**t in French or whatever, even though it didn't win an oscar or anything it did in my heart. See this immeadiatly P.S. Be Excellent to each other and Party On Dudes.

5.0 out of 5 stars ..Wish I had that booth...., October 2, 1999

Ryan Anderson (Everett, WA USA) - See all my reviews
As a history major, I've got to say that this movie totaly rocks. So it wasnt dead on history wise, but I'll forever see Napoleon porking out in Ice Cream and becoming a "Ziggey Piggy", Billey the Kid and Socraties trying to make a pass at the 'mall babes', Sigmund Freud with a "Kick Me" sign on his back, the look on ol' Abe Lincolin's face when Ghengis Khan pulls him into the phone booth (I always was a reb at heart), Gehengis trashing "Oshmans", Joan leading aerobics and Motzart rocking out on synthesyzers. Not a history class that has mentioned one or all of these figures has gone by without those images in my head, and I always said if the Army sent me into combat i'd make sure to stop and say "We're in the middle of a war dude!" to a buddy. This flick is so much better than anything put out since in the genere, it makes me think Hollywood has become a bunch of "Royal Ugly Dudes"....especially the poor sequil to the Great One's Excellent Adventure. Anyway- buy this flick, if it dosent make you crack up, you're either as clueless about history as these two, or just a bogus person. AND NOW OPENING FOR IRON MAIDEN! WYLD STALLIONS!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars It changed my life!, November 5, 1999
By A Customer
Never before has a movie influenced me like this one. I've seen it litteraly over 100 times, and I'm still not sick of it. This movie changed my life (it helped that I was about 10 when I first saw it). Although the dialog and concept seem corny (on film), my life reflected theirs almost perfectly (except the time travel thing).

A truly GREAT film. There really is nothing else like it. Everything else that tried to imitate it (Wayne's World, Encino Man) ended up subpar in comparison.

Don't miss this amazing film.
