Product Description

Like, radical, dude--but not nearly as funny as it should be, even though it was a box-office hit. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are a pair of dim Valley boys, whose life is made heinous by a school history project. Enter George Carlin as a futuristic dude with a time-traveling phone booth. So Bill and Ted go back in time to round up a gang of historical figures (Socrates, Joan of Arc) to bring back for their presentation. Abe Lincoln at the mall? That's about as witty as it gets, rendering this the kind of comedy that gives teenaged audiences a bad name. --Marshall Fine

It is the future. Society has at last solved all its major problems, thanks to amiable lunkheads Bill and Ted and the inspiring music of their band, Wyld Stallyns. Only one man is dissatisfied with the way things have turned out, the evil De Nomolos. In an effort to change the future, De Nomolos sends evil Bill and Ted robots back in time to prevent the real Bill and Ted from winning a pivotal Battle of the Bands. What follows is a spirited journey through the afterlife as Bill and Ted try to rescue their girlfriends, save the future, and, oh, yeah, learn how to play the guitar. Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey swings easily between childish and clever humor, and is good at both: a Bergman reference is quickly followed by an equally funny bit about Death's stinky feet. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter seem happy to be reprising their roles and even manage to add funny spins on Evil Robot Bill and Ted. William Sadler very nearly steals the movie as Death, playing both his wounded dignity and budding desire to be funky to a T. As if that weren't enough, George Carlin returns as Rufus and Pam Grier does a cameo just for the hell of it. Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey is ample proof that not all sequels suck. Sometimes they're even better than the original. --Ali Davis

5.0 out of 5 stars TWO great movies! June 29, 2005
The other reviewer is relying on childhood memories of the two films. Excellent Adventure is a great film, and when the second film came out, it did not have the time machine and the historical dudes from the first movie, so it felt too different than the first. Not many people cared for it, but I have been showing these films to my nieces and nephews for years now and the complete consensus is that the second film is a better film than the first. The writing is just as good and the film moves along quite well.

The two films feel quite different, but this is a good thing. They did a time travel movie already, so they went on to something else. It works!

Bogus Journey is a very funny film that needs to have a second look by fans of the first. Just keep in mind that it is not about time travel and historical dead dudes.

I have both the original DVDs, but I am reordering this collection for the extras.

Extras on these discs include:

The Original Bill & Ted: In Conversation With Screenwriters: Chris Matheson & Ed Solomon

The Most Triumphant Making-Of Documentary

Score! An Interview With Guitarist Steve Vai

Hysterical Personages: Biographies of Nine Historical Dudes and One Babe Dressed as a Dude

One Sweet and Sour Chinese Adventure To-Go - Episode of the Cartoon

The Linguistic Stylings of Bill & Ted

And Radio Spots

5.0 out of 5 stars Kids Love It! January 25, 2007
By Amanda
I saw Bill and Ted as a teen-ager. Now my 14 year-old son and pre-teen kids love it. Their friends have come over and seen these movies and really enjoyed them, too. They are clean movies and are different enough from everything else, it keeps kids entertained.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet movie July 31, 2006
i had heard of the bill and ted movies from somebody and they sounded like my kind of movie. so one day i was just sitting there and on tv bill and teds bogus journey was coming on so i was like man im gonna watch that. so i did and i reallly enjoyed it. it was mucho funny. so then i thought to myself, "wow it would be cool to actually own this movie so i can watch it whenever i like." so i got on good ole amazon here and looked it up. one of the results was this box set. the most excellent collection. i love box sets and i loved bill and ted so it was perfect. i have watched these movies several times since i bought it. so in conclusion, if you like bill and ted you should definatley buy this dvd box set. if youve never seen bill and ted you should still definately buy this dvd box set. go! get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two Most Excellent Movies and a Triumphant Bonus Disc January 20, 2009
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
In this phone booth looking collector's case are the two Bill & Ted movies and a bonus disc containing a conversation with the writers, an episode of the cartoon, instructions on how to play the air guitar with two world champions, interviews with writers-directors-stars, and some other "non-bogus" stuff, including hints at what might be a third Bill & Ted movie.

3.0 out of 5 stars Packaging, Packaging, Packaging May 11, 2013
By D. Ward
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
There is ten times more cardboard in this 3-disk set than plastic in the disks. Way too much packaging, but the disks were still funny.

Excellent set of movies from the 80's. I forgot how funny both movies were plus the cameos by George Carlin were great.
I recommend this movie to anyone who likes a good laugh.

4.0 out of 5 stars incredibly goofy March 11, 2009
this pair of movies are incredibly goofy which make them the perfect set for a fun night in. the first movie is a classic and the second is so strange that it's funny. the totally non-bogus disc has a ton of material on it, too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Stuff January 30, 2010
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
Although the first movie was significantly better than the second, I though the opportunity to buy both together was great. They look and sound fine and there's some good extras. I only wish there was commentary.
