5.0 out of 5 stars Tripping Daisy's Best, January 24, 2000
By
gershwin fan (Plano, TX, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bill (Audio CD)
This album "blows away" everything else by the Dallas band. One of the best debut albums by ANYONE in the 90's, Bill starts out strong with My Umbrella and never gives up it's unique, hard-rock edge. "Blown Away" is one of the best pure rock songs you'll hear.

Early Daisy fans were hoping for more of this with subsequent albums that ended up falling short. There'll never be another Bill though, or Wes (we know you're watching :)

5.0 out of 5 stars The Original...The Best, August 11, 1998
This review is from: Bill (Audio CD)
I remember seeing Tripping Daisy play on the lure tour back in '92. The venue, the music, the performance...everything was imbibed with the vibrant music and energy that is still exhibited on this album. A dedicated fan, I buy everything they put out. But like a good woman, this is the one I always come back to in 'The Morning.'

2.0 out of 5 stars Tripping over themselves, July 13, 2009
This review is from: Bill (Audio CD)
This is an interesting debut CD. The beat is usually simplistic on early albums, but these guys seem to accelerate into the changes. 'Tripping' instead of trippy. Which is good. That said, the production on the vocals is off. Fuzzy, in an irritating way. Songs like Change of Mind, Blown Away and Brown-Eyed Pickle Boy are better because they allowed the vocals to occasionally break through. Miles and Miles of Pain is best because they slowed down and boosted the vocals. I'm harsh on this CD (2 stars) because I rate based on how often I figure to listen to it, and in this case, not often. I'm really hoping their final work, Tripping Daisy, is re-released or comes down in price because I like what I've heard from it. So the band (or its choice in producers) definitely improved.
