5.0 out of 5 stars Yay for the 80s!
For anyone who loved the 80s as much as I did, this is a total must have in your collection. Included are some great standards ("Take on Me", "Broken Wings") as well as some songs you never thought you'd hear again (and won't admit you still want to) like "Wild Wild West" and "Toy Soldiers". Buy this. You will listen to it over...

3.0 out of 5 stars If you are going to do it,do it right.
While this box set may be a good overview of the 80's it however left out some pretty big bands and singers. Where is michael jackson? Madonna? Duran Duran? Bruce Sprinstine? i could go on. I could forgive these oversights if "Billboard" wasn't part of this box set's title; billboard is suppose to be the definitive authority when it comes to top hits and...

I could forgive these oversights if "Billboard" wasn't part of this box set's title; billboard is suppose to be the definitive authority when it comes to top hits and music charts so to put out such a box set with the above glaring omissions kind of leaves one short changed. Stil, a nice collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maybe This Will Help?, August 28, 2004
This review is from: Billboard Top Hits 85-89 (Audio CD)
First off, I won't argue what's here because these songs are good enough to be in this collection. Now that I got that out of the way, here is the real problem: licencing. Madonna and company are not here for that reason alone. However, by looking at the song list, you may buy the songs you want but don't have. You can also buy each CD separately. There are other options then this to summerize.

5.0 out of 5 stars (Some of the Billboard) Top Hits 1985-1989, October 30, 2010

While this collection is fabulous and timeless in so many ways, it is not the Top 10 (or so) from each of those years. The set greatly reduces the deadwood you get by buying as individual albums, not to mention the price. Fast and smooth delivery, great vendor to deal with.

This collection is terrific. During the 85-89 era, I was a teenager, and this brings back all the great memories.

3.0 out of 5 stars Billboard top hits 1985-1989 box set, June 19, 2004
This review is from: Billboard Top Hits 85-89 (Audio CD)
I was just going to buy this music box set when I suddenly remembered two great songs of 1985, which are: Born in the USA and Careless Whisper. Am I wrong? or weren't they hits? Where are they? I think they could have left out two other songs and included the ones I mentioned, because they were #1 hits. It just got me thinking that this box set is really not so great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take me back!, June 17, 2000

This is a great over view of the music of the late 80s. Lots of #1 big hits on all these CD's. If your into the 80s like I am this will not be the only set to own. But I don't think that is the point of this box set! It is just to bring back great music and reflect on what pop radio of the late 80s was playing!

I've noticed in one review here that someone was complaining about what's NOT on here. See, Billboard is about sales/airplay, so if your favorite hair band or rap group didn't have one of the 10 or 20 biggest hits of that particular year, they ain't going to be on this collection. Having said that, this is pretty representative of what was big on the pop charts that year. If you're looking for hard rock or rap, this wouldn't be where you should look for it in the first place.

This is a thight C.D. if you have a taste in pop rock. This is an awsome C.D. set. All of my ladies love these C.D.'s and they are entertained for hours on in. These C.D.s are good for driving and grooving. Take it from me these C.D.'s will bring the party to a whole new freaky level. Listen Hard and Long, "Above Da Law" Efaw
