5.0 out of 5 stars Make a list and check it twice...
Billboard, long the Bible of pop music opens the doors to their kingdom of charts. It's all here folks. The hits rise and fall faster than the stock exchange. You'll see great songs that barely made the top 100, and sappy tunes that were pushed up the charts by heavy pushes by the record companies. Find out for yourself how many songs never made it past the #2...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good to follow, but make sure you get a CORRECT copy!
I am a huge chart follower. I am in total heaven with the 80's edition of Joel Whitburn's Billboard Hot 100 Chart book. I received the 90's edition for Christmas, and again, I was thrilled. I was just going through it some more to track a song I was listening to, and realized that the charts from May 31, 1997 to the end of '97 are totally missing. It leaps from May...

It leaps from May 24, 1997 to November 13, 1999. It then goes to the end of 1999, then lists all the songs that hit the Hot 100 in the 90s, then starts back up with the January 10, 1998 chart. I don't know how I missed this when I first got the book, but I am not amused and wanted to warn others that might order this book to check this out right away. I'm really disappointed that I didn't notice this right away. For all the other information outside of the last half of 1997, it's a great resource.

You'll see great songs that barely made the top 100, and sappy tunes that were pushed up the charts by heavy pushes by the record companies. Find out for yourself how many songs never made it past the #2 position because they had the misfortune of charting at the same time as "One Sweet Day." The musical history of the 90's shows the path pop music into the new millennium. (mlk)

This book (along with the 80's companion) is super!!! You can now track your most favorite songs over the decade from Mariah Carey to Boyz II Men!!! One Hit wonders are in full in this book, but the main stays like Madonna, Micheal, and Prince are there, too. It's just a great book!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST SOURCE OF THE HOT 100, February 23, 2003
This review is from: Billboard Hot 100 Charts - The Nineties (Hardcover)
What better way to receive chart history of the hot 100, then looking at the real thing? I found the 90's the most interesting decade because the chart had some changes that effected the chart dramatically, such as: the introduction of Neilson Soundscan, which pinpointed the exact nuber of radio plays and sales; and the most dramtic effect, the inclusion of airplay only songs. The 90's also showed us all of the 9 songs that debuted at #1 from Michael Jacksons "You Are Not Alone"(1995) to Lauryn Hills' "Doo Wop (That Thing)"(1998). The 90's also showed us the longest running #1 of all time: "One Sweet Day" by Mariah Carey & Boys II Men (16 Weeks). I was very impressed on how each page is an actual copy of the chart taken directly from the magazine, because I was expecting just a list. So, whether you want to use this book to look at songs/artists that you have completely forgotten about or that you love and want to know all of their chart info in the 90's, or you just love billboard charts in general, this is a really satisfying and quality book. I definetely reccomend it.

Another bound volume of Billboard HOT 100 reproductions. It covers the period of weekly charts from January 6, 1990 to the christmas of 1999. As for the reproduction quality, this 90s book stands out among the other decades in its series (50s,60s,70s and 80s).

For me personally, the design for HOT 100 charts has found its best format yet. Better than their preceeding designs.

I just wonder why this chart book series all come in different sizes / dimensions. I just wish the series could stack up neatly in my book shelf.
