4.0 out of 5 stars A pretty good CD, March 4, 2005
This review is from: Billboard R&B Soul Hits 1985 (Audio CD)
This CD is good, contains some good R&B tunes from 1985. However, as is the problem with most Rhino releases, it only contains 10 tracks. They could have certainly included a few more tracks to beef it up a little. The versions here are all original recordings by the original artists. However, for a CD that is supposed to represent the Top R&B songs of 1985, they could have included a few more songs that went to #1. Specifically, 1985 was bookended by number 1's by Eugene Wilde. He started the year off with "Gotta Get You Home Tonight" and ended the year with "Don't Say No Tonight". Starting and ending the CD with those songs would have been cool. Other than the slim amount of music provided, it is a good CD and the songs here are good (except maybe "Cherish" by Kool & the Gang which I never personally cared for).
