I have enjoyed this CD quite a bit its on the juke box at the bar across the street from my apartment complex. Which is how I was exposed to it. And it is a very poular selection on the juke, it has a great collection of songs and artists, perfect for anyone like me who grew up and went to school in the 70s,Hear it a few times and you'll have to get it.

Rhino Records pulls through again with a great, inexpensive selection of hits from 1977. Listening to the CD brought back fond memories for me of happier times when my life wasn't so complicated!

The selection of songs is really very good. I especially like the romantic "Undercover Angel" by Alan O'Day; Peter Frampton doing an awesome job with " I'm In You;" the joyous and infectious melody of "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" by Leo Sayer; the rockin' "I'm Your Boogie Man" by KC & The Sunshine Band; and the playful disco classic "Car Wash" by Rose Royce. Sure, "Car Wash" is disco and so maybe it's not the best choice for a rock hits CD; but, then again, who cares? It's a fun song with a terrific beat and a well executed musical arrangement that practically begs your unconscious to jump up and start DANCING !!!

The quality of the music is great; but as always with this series that Rhino put out the liner notes are sparse. My main disappointment (and the reason I am giving this CD four stars instead of five stars) is that Rhino limited this CD series to ten songs per CD. Not eleven, not nine, not twelve--just ten and exactly ten. There's more than enough room left on the CD for at least one or two more songs--why couldn't a little more be added? Nevertheless, for the price it's a good buy.

Overall, the CD mainly stays to rock and roll but it swings a little bit into disco especially with the last track, "Car Wash." I highly recommend this CD for people who want to enjoy fond memories of years gone by and obviously this will be a delight for fans of '70s music. It's very affordable and that's always a nice plus! I have always been a fan of compliations of this sort. Even though these songs as a wee-bit older than I, they still stand the test of time. I had originally purchased the disc for one-song, but have heard a few of the others at one time or another. Overall, I was actually quite impressed with the organization of the disc. It has a good selection of songs from 1977. "Boogie Nights," "I'm Your Boogie Man," and "Car Wash" would probably be the most well known songs on the disc. They may be disco, but perhaps that's what makes them cool. Leo Sawyer and Marvin Gaye get their chance to shine. They both do a good job of fitting in on the disc, as Gaye is a legend of sorts in the industry. Seventies icon Peter Frampton is included with "I'm In You," which I find to be a pretty good melodic tune, as is "Rich Girl," by the great duo of Hall & Oates. These guys are an excellent addition to the disc. Lastly, there is my personal fav, "Undercover Angel." Alan O'Day may not have been an icon, but he truly knows how to belt out a tune. This song is full of great melodies, awesome lyrics and overall is a nice piece of 70's nostalgia. I recommend that you pick up this disc, along with other Billboard compliations, as these guys know how to put a disc together. And by the way, Disco may not rule now, but it still is cool in a retro sort of way!

Front-end baby-busters won't be able to resist this one - lots of heart-thumping disco, and most of the tracks that don't fit into that category are totally awesome as well. Film buffs will love it too, as three of these songs have cinematic connections: "Car Wash" from the movie of the same name, "I'm Your Boogie Man" from "Scary Movie" and "Don't Leave Me This Way" from "Looking For Mr. Goodbar." "Undercover Angel" is kind of a throwback, but a most enjoyable one; and "Rich Girl" is essential Hall & Oates. Buy this one and yes, you'll agree with Leo Sayer - you will indeed feel like dancing!

Real quick, if it doesn't have "Hotel California" or "New Kid In Town" it doesn't represent 1977.

Excellent CD, Takes you back to a simplier time. Great atrists and real Music

In my opinion the year of 1977 was a great year for music. Although some would say that the Disco stuff was trash, this CD blends not only rock, jazz and blues but gives us a taste of what people were dancing to in the clubs. If you are into different styles then this is the one for you.
