The blend of color photos with statistics here is simply wonderful, surpassing other `top hits' compilations by providing a full color photos of each hit's original 45 RPM picture sleeve or ad, supplementing the Billboard chart details. The rock era covered is from 1955-2005: fifty years of top music, with nine small photos to each page enhancing the countdown listings. Any music fan will quickly consider Top 1000 Hits Of The Rock Era a top pick.

I love Joel Whitburn's Billboard books, so I was delighted to find that there is one in kindle format. I downloaded a sample, and got a few pages of the rankings. The typeface is microscopic and unreadable, but I thought that might be because of all the photos involved. I thought that surely the artist & song title sections would read normally, so I purchased the book. Sadly, the unreadably tiny font prevails throughout all of the data sections. The image does not change when either the zoom feature on the increase type-face feature is used. I've asked for a refund on this item. If you are considering buying this for your kindle, download the sample first and look at the size of the printing under the rankings photos. If you can read & live with that, more power to you.

To be honest, I was a little disapointed with my purchase. I was expecting the same information on artist and groups like the Joel Whitburns TOP 40 Hits. With info. on group members and original artists on the album. I personally like the trivia. I thought it was an updated version.

If You're a fan of charted singles music and a fan of visuals this ones for You.It features a musical pop culture's who's who in the Rock Era.It does so by Featuring singles slip covers art to each of the 1000 most successful chart entries beginning in 1955.

This book is fun to look through, especially to see the old record covers. I do think the criterion used (weeks at #1 in the Top 40) for ranking the top 1000 is a bit flawed. This depends a lot on the competition at the time. Probably total sales or radio plays would be a better indication. But there will always be debate on which are the best songs over a 50-year period.

I was totally satisfied! I highly recommend this seller. The book was great & it arrived super-fast.

The songs are not in chronological order but arranged in a more than arguable chart possiton which make it mixed and messy. There are no text or comments and also some of the pictures don't correspond to the original realeases. Consider other books from billboard before buying this one!

Excellent compilation for music lovers. The hits are listed by album cover which really brings back memories of the wonderful music we love to play over and over again. I could argue with the positioning of certain songs but not too much since I am biased towards older hits and the 'rap' type music doesn't turn my crank much. For a younger generation I suppose this is O.K. Love this book and for any music collector this is a great encyclopedia of music.
