Editorial Reviews

Originally released in February 1973, Billion Dollar Babies peaked at #1 on the Billboard Pop Album Charts and had four singles: "Elected" which was often used as an encore, "Hello, Hooray," "No More Mr. Nice Guy," and "Billion Dollar Babies." Another song featured on the record, "I Love The Dead," is usually associated with Cooper's mock-execution. Billion Dollar Babies has been notably one of Alice Coopers best albums. This vinyl version is pressed on 180 gram.

A great reissue for everyone who was a young AC fan in the early 70's! Ok, the pricetag is a bit above the usual, but so is the package, not to mention the music! To give this LP one star because of the pricetag says more than a lot about the person who manages to do so. I'll leave it at that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Reproduction!, July 30, 2010

This version of the Alice Cooper band classic album, Billion Dollar Babies is simply fantastic.

The gatefold cover (complete with embossed baby's head coin on the front and back,) press out wallet photos, lyrics and band photo inner sleeve plus the famous giant billion dollar bill are all exactly how they should be. This product is the same as when the album was first released back in 1973.

The vynal itself is thick and the labels are excellent reproductions. If you love vynal records, I strongly suggest you pick up one of these for your collection.

A job very well done and hope that other Cooper band classic albums will also be included in this 180 gram collection, cheers!

5.0 out of 5 stars 13/49 Years Old and BBB Never Sounded Better!, June 1, 2010

This review is from: Billion Dollar Babies (180 Gram Vinyl) (Vinyl)
I must say that if I had to name the one album that I remember getting from my uncle Bob on my thirteenth birthday, it would be Alice Cooper's Billion Dollar Babies. If you have never heard this album from start to finish, here is your chance. This new 180 gram release by Rhino Records is truly amazing. I found out early about the Rhino release including the original cut-out photos of the band, the huge billion dollar and the oddly shaped outer cover with the raised lettering that they were including in this version which was great. I also knew that Rhino would go for the master tapes and make it sound better than any vinyl release of this album to this day. What surprised me was the superb job they did in mastering the individual instruments. When I heard the opening notes of "Hello, Hooray" I had a smile on my face in complete anticipation and satisfaction. They even brought up the dentist drill effects in the middle of "Unfinished Sweet". The dueling guitar work by Glen Buxton {Alice's very underrated guitarist} and Steve "the Deacon" Hunter {the amazing guitar lead in Lou Reed's live version of "Sweet Jane"} on the song "Billion Dollar Babies kicks some major rock and roll butt. Also for the Alice fans who love the hits, you get "Elected" and "No More Mr. Nice Guy" on this album as well!
This record changed my musical perspective in so many ways. The writing and lets not forget the brilliant vocals by Alice helps makes this one of my desert island top 10 albums of all time. I usually never do these reviews on Amazon but after hearing this album once again, I had to put my excitement in words. Where has all this type of musical talent gone in today's music standards? Billion Dollar Babies sounds even better now than it did when I heard it for the first time 37 years ago. And for anyone who wants to buy one of the newly released 180 gram albums in the rock and roll department, I suggest you to go out and get this Rhino release. It is worth every penny of a billion dollars.
