Product Description

“Die Hard meets The Office”

Seattle billionaire and software titan Jeff Pepper couldn’t have chosen a worse day to check up on the research project he’s been funding at the university for more than a decade. When gunmen move in, seizing control of the building in their search for a previously unknown weapon, Jeff is caught in the middle of a nerve-wracking hostage situation, one in which he is an all-too-valuable pawn. As tensions mount and the body count rises, his only hopes for survival include Nick, a disillusioned office worker trapped in another part of the building, and Brick Ransom, a crack shot SWAT team member with an inconvenient trigger finger and a wry sense of humor. Working with Brick and other law-enforcement officials outside, Nick must guide a special team through the locked-down facility and help them save as many lives as possible, while Jeff Pepper uses every negotiating trick up his sleeve to see that he and his fellow captives make it out alive. 4.0 out of 5 stars Had difficulty putting this one down!, August 10, 2009

Great read!

Picked this one up and immediately got drawn in by characters that I'd swear I'd met in real life. Mr. Attebery does a great job of setting this story up and keeps enough mystery (especially about the title) that you have to keep turning the pages.

I found myself constantly guessing as to what was going to happen next. Intense scenes in the book are balanced with believable dialogue and humorous moments that you can identify with. There's plenty of action and the exploding monkeys do not disappoint. There are some graphic parts that are handled well, but aren't over the top.

Without giving too much away, I found myself identifying with a character who absolutely hates his job and I think many people that read this should be able make that connection.

I'd certainly recommend this book and hope to see more from Mr. Attebery soon!

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining read...Lousy title!, December 18, 2011

This review is from: Billionaires, Bullets, Exploding Monkeys (A Brick Ransom Adventure) (Kindle Edition)
I almost didn't pick this one up when it was offered on the free Top 100 list, as I was about to judge this book by its title (almost as bad as judging one by its cover). All I can say is I am glad I listened to my inner voice and read this one. Fast paced and fairly well written, the book takes you through a siege at a research lab in Seattle where Billionaire Jeff Pepper has decided to check up on one of the researchers to whom he has given a grant. Unfortunately, he is in the building when a group of terrorists take it over with the intent of stealing a new WMD which has been developed there (unbeknownst to Mr. Pepper). With its plausible story line, this entertaining thriller takes you on a ride which compels you to keep reading until the end. The book has its share of spelling and editing errors although they are not blatant enough to ruin the read. All in all, I give it four stars and suggest you give it a try if you want to read an interesting thriller with a lousy title.

4.0 out of 5 stars Had to finish!, February 5, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Billionaires, Bullets, Exploding Monkeys (A Brick Ransom Adventure) (Kindle Edition)
A "Billionaire" visits a medical research facility for verification that his grant money is being spent properly. Shortly after his arrival, terrorists lock the facility down attempting to add a new bio-terrostic weapon to their arsonal. Hostages are taken...Bullets are flying..the biologic "bombs" are causing nasty work to living beings...and now I have to stop reading to go to work!!!!! What!!! I can't stop now!

Some of the action was a bit over the top. Overall, I raced through the book..and that's what makes it good.
