5.0 out of 5 stars Great, September 30, 2009
This review is from: The Billionaire's Unexpected Heir (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
Billionaire lawyer Jake Garnier never planned to be a father. After growing up without his playboy father he swore to stay single and just enjoy life. But when he becomes the new owner of Hickory Hill Thoroughbred farm he realizes that he already is a dad.
Heather McGwire, ranch manager of his new farm, is the woman he spent one night with months ago and could just not forget. She is also the mother of his adorable daughter which comes as a shock and big suprise for Jack.
Soon Jack is quiet happy to be father of darling Mandy even though he is not ready to take the next step with Heather (no love and marriage for him!). When Heather decides to leave the farm because she loves him and wants more of their relationship than he is willing to give , Jack finally realizes that it's time to stop being afraid of love and commitment.

"The Billionaire's Unexpected Heir" by Kathie DeNosky is a great book and an awesome way to finish the Illegitimate Heirs- series. Heather and Jack are both great characters and together they make a terrific pair. Heather is strong and capable and Jack has just the right mix of arrogance billionaire and loving dad.
It's also nice to meet all the other illegitimate heirs and their families again. Especially the head of the family, grandmother Emerald, is once again in top form and the reason why Jack found Heather again. Emerald is a bit of a female Daniel MacGregor (one of Nora Roberts greatest characters) and I enjoyed reading about her and Luther a lot, especially because there is a nice little suprise from both of them at the end of the book.
So all in all this book is just great and I can't wait to read more by Kathie DeNosky.

4.0 out of 5 stars While the story-line is a bit overdone, the characters were still fun and interesting, especially if you enjoy the horse racing, October 4, 2011
This review is from: The Billionaire's Unexpected Heir (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
While the story-line is a bit overdone, the characters were still fun and interesting, especially if you enjoy the horse racing world. Having a baby by yourself is difficult but so many do it everyday in some ways I felt that this book paid tribute to those moms that do it all alone.

4.0 out of 5 stars sizzling chemistry all over again, June 11, 2011
This review is from: The Billionaire's Unexpected Heir (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
"The Billionaire's Unexpected Heir" by Kathie DeNosky is a perfect fit for the Harlequin "Desire" book line. A sizzling reunion romance, a darling baby, and a bad-boy billionaire who's not so bad after all. This is why I love category romance: It's just what you need, just when you want it! I look forward to reading more romances by Ms. DeNosky!

3.0 out of 5 stars The romance was too forced., June 1, 2011

This review is from: The Billionaire's Unexpected Heir (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
The story starts out with Jake Garnier becoming reaquainted with his one-night stand, Heather McGwire. He's the new owner of the thoroughbred farm that she manages. What he doesn't know at first is that he's a daddy. But his meddling grandmother knows and sent him into the lion's den.

I entered this series of book quite late, having never read any of the previous books in the series. So please take my review with that grain of salt in mind.

I felt that the romance was a little too forced and rushed. It was like someone had skipped ahead and we missed the most trying parts of the couple's journey to their happy ending. For instance, he finds out suddenly he's the father of a 7 month old and didn't know it. Yet he hangs back just a bit and then confronts her. You'd expect him to start the drama once he laid eyes on the baby that looks just like him. He doesn't even woo well, and she gives in and starts their affair back up. I was just left feeling a bit sad that there wasn't more meat to their story. Perhaps the previous books were much better, but I felt like knowing that there were previous books and that this was the series ender that it ended in a fizzle instead of a firework.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm willing to suspend disbelief, May 8, 2010
This seemed to borrow a lot from Nora Roberts' first publication, but not enough to alarm the plagiarism police. It had all the stock elements -- stunning, hard working, working-class heroine; playboy hero with secret wells of steady strength; their coming together, parting, coming back together, etc. But the characters were likeable and some of them were even credible. This tale was told with a minimum of useless verbiage. It's one I would read again.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Billionaire's Unexpected Heir, May 7, 2010

book lover "ec" (los angeles, ca USA) - See all my reviews
It is a great end to a miniseries. It is great how he took his daughter under his wing. In my viewing Jake grew up because he believe he was like his inresponsible father. That was why he did not like to stay in relationships. But once he is there he can seem to get enough.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wasn't bad...wasn't great either., May 6, 2010

The first book in the series was the best one. Each progressive one went down in interest for me. This was just okay. It had no real high points so I could only give it 3***.
