Very original and funny. Classic Connolley comedy. Wish there was more of his standup act on CD or DVD.

Billy Connolly at his best ,sharing memories of his childhood
and his fist job in the shipyards. Strong language which is the norm in Glasgow

4.0 out of 5 stars Billy Rolls Albert, January 26, 2001

This is the first encounter that I had with Billy Connolly, and it remains my favorite to date. Connolly gives a very competent show at the Royal Albert Hall in the early 80's, ( which unfortunately dates some of the mildly political material.) Most of the show, however, is timeless, ranging from dachshunds ( German draft excluders ), the early folk scene (" No one ever said 'Look at that welder' "), to noisy neighbors in a Perth hotel room. The material is wide ranging, so he doesn't work each topic into the ground. He can be guttural in language and material, so it may not be for the kids or those whose sensibilities are easily offended, and his accent can be obtuse at certain points, but it is well worth deciphering. He is not an overly original comedian, but is very good at his form. I have seen him in a later HBO special, after he had been on "Head of the Class", and I found him to be rather dull. "Billy and Albert" seems to be his superior work.
