From Library Journal
Paul Sanderson, owner of Rocking J. Ranch, orders his youngest and best wrangler, Billy Bayes, to meet his sister Effie and daughter Becky at Bent Rock, where they will arrive with a very expensive Arabian stallion. The horse is accidently spooked and heads for the high hills. Billy's wild chase after the stallion is complicated by outlaws who also want a stake in the horse. Although in time Billy succeeds-leaving in his wake a trail of wounded and dead men-the story is not over: The narrative shifts to the rocky romance between Becky and Billy. All ends well as the good and the bad get what they deserve. The author's style in this first novel is leisurely and spare, but he understands horses better than women. A satisfying, light tale for Western buffs and their libraries.
