Editorial Reviews

For anyone who suspected that the fitness secrets of the stars were safe in Hollywood, fitness guru Billy Blanks delivers an invigorating, fat-blasting cardio workout designed to tone and sculpt the body just like the photogenic folks up on the big screen. These are the exact same moves practiced by Blanks' high profile celebrity clients, and now that the secret is out it won't be long until virtually everyone is kicking, punching, and sweating their way to a stronger, healthier body

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast Paced but Fun - What a Cardio Workout!, July 20, 2007
By
This review is from: Billy Blanks' Tae-Bo - Get Celebrity Fit - Cardio (DVD)
This workout slams into fast gear from the start and maintains that pace throughout the entire workout. I'd been doing the 2003 series of The Strength/Power Within, Flex and Cardio, which are all a slower pace, so I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to do the whole thing. You would know I'd choose to do it for the first time on a Friday when I was dragging.

It was definitely a challenge, but a rewarding one. I finished the workout drenched, but energized. Aside from a few combinations (that will take a few tries to nail, if you're choreographically challenged like me), the routines are fairly easy to follow. Billy Blanks was energized, encouraging and playful throughout the DVD.

While I wouldn't recommend this for beginners or as a first Billy Blanks/Tae Bo workout, I thought it was a great, fun and even motivational workout. Wish I'd discovered Billy Blanks sooner!

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS AWSOME!!, April 28, 2007
This review is from: Billy Blanks' Tae-Bo - Get Celebrity Fit - Cardio (DVD)
I just received this DVD yesterday and tried it out today. It was a little hard, but a lot of fun. There are some familiar moves, but Billy also adds a few challenging combinations that he has never done in other videos. There is also a few different moves. The really motivating part of these videos, the people seem to genuinely enjoy Tae Bo and are in good shape, but look realistic. I giggled a few times at Billy's humor. I own pretty much every Tae Bo DVD, so, this one was actually a refreshing change!

3.0 out of 5 stars You'd think he'd get better as he goes, January 17, 2008
This review is from: Billy Blanks' Tae-Bo - Get Celebrity Fit - Cardio (DVD)
I've been doing Tae Bo for the past decade, so I've accumulated a library of tapes/DVD's. Though I don't do it "regularly" (I mix it up when I can't run or want an "easier" workout) I regularly purchase new DVD's because I'm constantly searching for the "perfect" Tae Bo workout (for ME and what I'm looking for). This isn't it. I've been so disappointed with the majority of my recent Tae Bo purchases, including this one. Here's why:

1. I give up trying to count how many times Billy messes up anymore. Not that you have to be perfect, but it's TAPED! Edit it, especially if it's affecting my workout (not getting to the "other" side, messing up cadence, etc).

2. I feel like when I find a "good" move that is challenging and really targets a specific muscle group, he never does it again (ex being the abs at the end of Boot Camp Cardio Live).

3. Too much down time between moves in workouts (like this one) advertised as "cardio". I haven't remembered to wear my HR monitor yet, but I'd bet the farm I'm not in my zone for most of the work out.

Overall, this is just ok. Not as bad as some, not nearly as good as others. I'll still keep searching...
