Book Description

May 1, 2004 HarperCollinsComedy
Billy Connolly has been making us laugh since the early 70s with his unique look at life and the people he meets. He was the innovator of new wave stand-up and continues to pack out gigs around the world. Classic Connolly, More Classic Connolly and Two Night Stand bring together the great man’s finest recordings from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, running to over 5 1/2 hours of fantastic entertainment. Besides the wealth of stories and jokes, the pack also contains the classic hit songs D.I.V.O.R.C.E., In the Brownies, Welly Boot Song, The Shitkickers Waltz, and Half-Stoned Cowboy.

Editorial Reviews

From AudioFile

Bawdy Billy Connolly has been rrrolling his "rrr"s and delivering punch lines since the 1970s. This collection spans decades of his high-energy R-rated stories and mild PG comedy songs. Clearly a UK favorite, Connolly mines a rich vein of rowdy and raucous humor and shaggy dog tales delivered in an outraged and bemused brogue. Something of a unique voice, Connolly is regarded by some as a pioneer of new wave comedy. While his observational humor and storytelling are somewhat experimental, he is more solidly mainstream and far less ground-breaking than Lenny Bruce or other seminal comics. A fun listen, however, for the soccer-and-Guinness crowd or existing fans. D.J.B. © AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine
