5.0 out of 5 stars Do I love this album? You bet I do!
I was never a big Billy Joel fan, and I never purchased his pop albums, but then one day I heard this music, the "Fantasies & Delusions" suite. I then realized that Billy is actually a compositional genius, but he chose not use his gifts as a classical composer. 1.0 out of 5 stars Expected Billy to be playing but he wasn't
I love to watch Billy tickle the ivories. However he composed this music and their is another pianoist playing. I was sorely disappointed without Billy playing and the music itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do I love this album? You bet I do!, April 27, 2010
This review is from: Billy Joel: Fantasies & Delusions (Music for Solo Piano) (Audio CD)
I was never a big Billy Joel fan, and I never purchased his pop albums, but then one day I heard this music, the "Fantasies & Delusions" suite. I then realized that Billy is actually a compositional genius, but he chose not use his gifts as a classical composer. Instead, he chose to write quick pieces, (songs), that would make him loads of money, and probably get him dates. I can't fault him for that, but he has left his major talent mostly unused.

To date, I only know of one album of this nature by him, his greatest collection of works, the "Fantasies & Delusions" suite. A hundred years from now, radios may no longer be playing his pop songs, but surely, there will be many classical music connoisseurs still enjoying his classical opus. Even with this small body of pieces, Billy Joel has made his mark in musical history.

Do I love this album? You bet I do!

5.0 out of 5 stars Win for a Classical Billy Joel album, April 7, 2009

It's different than most of his other stuff, of course. But if you're looking for something easy and refreshing, this is definitely one of them. I listened to parts of it on his greatest hits album, as well as the Broadway show "Movin Out" and was impressed by it. I bought the music book for it and decided to invest in the recording. Definitely a Billy Joel sound, but with a classical feel to it. Great for lazy, balmy spring days.
