4.0 out of 5 stars "18 and beautiful, eh?"
The title "Billy the Kid Versus Dracula" probably stirs images in your head of fangs and bullets battling it out in the west..... the OLD west. Saloons, coffins, the lawless, bats, this all sounds as if it were to be the classic cinema fight.

While those images are entertaining, you will not find that here. Look at this film more as a romantic western...

3.0 out of 5 stars So bad it's good
This film is a true "Le Bad Cinema" treasure. My family still uses bits of dialogue from the movie. Watching Dracula lift up and stumble carrying out that larger-than-he-is blond bimbo is at once hilarious and pathetic. You can't help feeling sorry for the poor, elderly actor who probably had to take whatever work he could get at that point. This isn't a film to take...

1.0 out of 5 stars very bad edition, June 15, 2007
This review is from: Billy the Kid Versus Dracula (DVD)
Regardless of what one may think of this film ,it deserves to be decently presented on dvd .Cheezy Flicks does not help the cause of film restoration with this type of dvd transfer .The one star is for the product not for the film .Cheezy Fick 's edition of Corman's Atlas in Pan and scan was a disaster too. They of course are not alone in that line .

2.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST ...OR WORST?...OF OL' JOHN, September 20, 2009

Good flick for some laughs. The price is right...about eight bucks, the same amount they spent making this horror western. John Carradine said it was the worst movie he had ever made...Don"t know about that John...I"ve seen you in some pretty bad movies. Be aware that this is a pretty lousy print transfer, not exactly Criterion Collection quality.

Or, just Romantic in general.

You've got an old guy chasing a blonde who happens to be dating an ex-murderer/robber, it's the ideal love-triangle!

There's really only one physical fight between Billy and Dracula (it's laughably poor, anti-climatic), the rest of the film is just the two trying for the heart of an 18 and beautiful blonde.

The copy I received was in obvious poor quality. Came off as if it were a beaten-up vhs tape, with the opening difficult to make out. I'm not too huge into quality, but even someone such as myself fount it to be rough, yet viewable for the most part.

There were no extras on the DVD.

Came in traditional DVD case.

Anyways, fun film for cheap thrills. If you expect action, forget about it. If you want a good movie for a hot-date, this one's the right ticket.

I guess a Cheesy Flick doesn't really deserve a quality release but come on guys, VHS to DVD? Really? Noise lines top and bottom give it away. They should update the description to say this is a VHS transfer to DVD. Terrible buzz noise in the sound sometimes also. It reminds me of seeing this movie on Shock Theater TV back when I was a kid (same quality).

3.0 out of 5 stars Dracula Earns a Green Card & Collides with "The Kid"!, August 14, 2011

This review is from: Billy the Kid Versus Dracula (DVD)
The immigration situation was really getting out of hand in the Old West -- they were taking in vampires and gypsies into the old towns!

Dracula (never named that in the film actually) is flying around stalking a German couple with their blonde daughter attempting to bite the girl at every turn. Drac is thwarted and decides to take a stage coach into town when he discovers a babe at a ranch and wishes to mate with her.

Biting an Indian maid and getting the whites blamed, Dracula uses this scenario to fake his identity as James Underhill, a never-seen-before uncle, to take care of poor Betty, whom he saw in a locket belonging to her now-dead mom. Oops!

The best thing about "James" is that the very unbelief of his vampirism keeps him safe. As the German woman in the film says, no one believes it until they're dead!

The Billy the Kid character is a bit rough around the edges and is quite corny in his naiveté and fighting skill. We only see one or two actual gun fights -- one gun fight won against a tin can and the other against a ranger who was gunning for Billy.

This James Underhill character is a riot. He walks around in the day time that is supposed to be evening, and the "vampire bat" looks like a little cardboard toy!

And the very dumb blonde who will be Drac's mate pooh-poohs everything and does not understand why the German couple freaks out whenever they are in the same room with Drac.

Virginia Christine, a great character actress who has appeared in many Sixties TV shows including The Rifleman, etc. makes an appearance as the all-knowing gypsy woman who knows all about vampires -- though why Drac does not react to the cross around her neck I'll never know.

The director William Beaudine is known for his cheap thrills films. I believe he made Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter, another gem that I must see!

DVD:

Except for a quick bio of the director and John Carradine (whose crazy stare and red face must be seen to be believed!) there are no extras. There is an interesting 50s ad for Orange Crush and an intro by Julie Andrews on the awesomeness of the MPAA Code.

Bottom Line: John Carradine is pretty rough in this piece. He is suave in his acting but when he attacks he growls like a bear! And Chuck Courtney as Billy the Kid is such a pansy, getting his butt kicked more than once. Must see the cheese!

5.0 out of 5 stars the best classic bad horror movie ever made!, March 3, 2011
This review is from: Billy the Kid Versus Dracula (1966-USA) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
John Carradine is an icon for anybody who knows anything about
movies! He's made some great and not so great movies but always
gave great performances much like Bela Lugosi! He starred in
many of the Universal Horror Movies and even played Dracula!
This movie made in his later years is still great! It was cheap
made but still better than most B movies of the time. I'm sure
most people today would laugh but I think it's a classic movie!
It's well written funny and moves fast. You can't take it as a
serious Dracula movie. If you like old westerns and horror then
this is the movie to get! I use to watch on the 10:30 sunday
morning movie with other classics from the 60's and I loved it
and still do. I'm watching it now that's why I wanted to see if
it was available. I have a good vhs copy sorry to see the dvd is
not better. too bad I was hoping for widescreen. anyway I say get
it and watch it with the kids. this is old classic movie making.

5.0 out of 5 stars DUMB, BUT YET COOL MOVIE!, August 4, 2010

WOW!!! This movie was dumb but yet so good. I thought the acting was good. But, Billy the Kid allowing himself to get
knocked out? I don't know about that. Being a great fan of B-Movies I found this very enjoyable. I would like to of
seen the vampire's fangs, which they did not show. If you like these type of movies, I highly recommend you to add this
one to your collection.
