We need more sound like this...,
By Jessica (Santa Barbara, CA United States) - See all my reviews

...as I haven't heard anything this good in quite some time. I heard the song "Try" on an episode of "My So-Called Life" and finally decided to buy the album, and it has not disappointed me. The harmony is intense and beautiful. The lyrics too are deep and seem to further themselves each time I listen. A must-have for anyone who likes the harmony of Indigo Girls and the intensity of U2.

This is my favorite album,

These poignant folk ballads speak directly to my sole! I have often thought of Andrew Hyra and Kristian Bush (aka Billy Pilgrim) as the male verision of The Indigo Girls -- In fact, Emily Saliers (Indigo Girls) provides terrific harmonic backup to "Insomniac" (track 2). Chris Cory had great taste in recommending this one.

Perfect For Just About Everything,
This review is from: Billy Pilgrim (Audio CD)
I heard "Hula Hoop" on a new-release overnight radio show in the summer of '94. I was immediately hooked. As soon as I could "order" the album in the notoriously behind-the-times record stores of my smallish hometown, it became one of my first ever CD purchases. Now I think of it as one of my best investments ever.
"Billy Pilgrim" is the only album I own that I can play at any time of day during any mood: fired-up at 9:00am; lazy at noon; depressed at 5:30pm; angry at midnight; dizzy and thoughtful at 3:00am. It is the only CD I own that has to be taken out of the case to be identified due to its countless handlings. I don't know if a song-by-song review is in order, other than to say that I think there is at least one track that will hit home with almost everyone. My greatest compliment to this album is to say that I absolutely love it despite the fact that it isn't even the type of music that I normally listen to.
