We need more sound like this...,
By Jessica (Santa Barbara, CA United States) - See all my reviews

...as I haven't heard anything this good in quite some time. I heard the song "Try" on an episode of "My So-Called Life" and finally decided to buy the album, and it has not disappointed me. The harmony is intense and beautiful. The lyrics too are deep and seem to further themselves each time I listen. A must-have for anyone who likes the harmony of Indigo Girls and the intensity of U2.

This is my favorite album,

These poignant folk ballads speak directly to my sole! I have often thought of Andrew Hyra and Kristian Bush (aka Billy Pilgrim) as the male verision of The Indigo Girls -- In fact, Emily Saliers (Indigo Girls) provides terrific harmonic backup to "Insomniac" (track 2). Chris Cory had great taste in recommending this one.

Perfect For Just About Everything,
This review is from: Billy Pilgrim (Audio CD)
I heard "Hula Hoop" on a new-release overnight radio show in the summer of '94. I was immediately hooked. As soon as I could "order" the album in the notoriously behind-the-times record stores of my smallish hometown, it became one of my first ever CD purchases. Now I think of it as one of my best investments ever.
"Billy Pilgrim" is the only album I own that I can play at any time of day during any mood: fired-up at 9:00am; lazy at noon; depressed at 5:30pm; angry at midnight; dizzy and thoughtful at 3:00am. It is the only CD I own that has to be taken out of the case to be identified due to its countless handlings. I don't know if a song-by-song review is in order, other than to say that I think there is at least one track that will hit home with almost everyone. My greatest compliment to this album is to say that I absolutely love it despite the fact that it isn't even the type of music that I normally listen to.

If you like music this album belongs in your collection. Andrew Hyra and Kristian Bush form the fabulous Billy Pilgrim. They have many solo and group discs (check out there website for indy discs). All of there albums are good, but this one and "In the Time Machine" are there best. If you like Freedy Johnston, John Mayer, Dave Matthews, or Tom Petty - I think you'll love this album.

Billy Pilgrim rocked!,

This is an incredible album, especially 'Insomniac','Hurricane Season', and 'Try'. I agree, I still listen to it after all these years and never grow tired of it. Saw these guys in concert 3 times, wish they were still touring here in Hotlanta. If you like Indigo Girls/John Mayer, et al you'll love this album. This is by far their best stuff.

Billy Pilgrim Is,

I listen to a lot of music. This is the best album I have found in a very long time. The depth of it, the power of it, the sheer danceability of it. Wild that these guys are not better known. If you buy only one album this year this could be it.

Hard hitting harmonizing folk rock duo explodes!,
By A Customer

This sound is overdue. This album combines hard hitting folk guitar and harmonizing vocals. It rocks. It kicks ass. It is a 'must' in your music library. What took these two talented musicians so long to hook up? Keep the albums coming!

Um. I've owned this album for the past 6 years or so, since high school, and it's one of the few that I've still been listening to pretty consistently the entire time. No matter what kind of music mood I'm in, I love hearing this CD. I really have no idea how to describe how the music sounds, unfortunately. I guess it's folksy, very catchy, the lyrics are great, and the harmonizing is incredibly cool. I really wish I had a voice like theirs.

These Guys are Awesome,

I bought this album in 1994 after seeing them open for Cowboy Junkies. The Cowboys (...) but Billy Pilgram was GREAT. I have 2 of their albums and the sound does not disappoint me. I am not sure if they are still together but I would catch the act again if I could! Superb!

Thank god for Amazon & Youtube,

Without Amazon I would not be able to locate a "used" version of this awesome CD. I had the cassette but lost it years ago. You can even see Andrew Hydra on Youtube singing an acoustic Get me Out of here. For those interested Andrew is the brother of Meg Ryan and Christin is the male half of Sugarland. The name Billy Pilgrim is taken after a character in Slaughterhouse Five.
