4.0 out of 5 stars Best Of Billy Preston
This album is a very good compilation of Billy's hit singles. Although many of the songs are arranged differently from their popular versions (e.g., Get Back and You Are So Beautiful), it is still musically interesting and fun. If you enjoy 70's keyboards and upbeat songs, then this album is for you.

2.0 out of 5 stars "BILLY'S MUSIC SCREAMS FOR A MAJOR REMASTER AND REPACKAGE!
Although I own this CD, every time I listen to it, I am dissatisfied. Firstly, the sound is muddy for it was created in the early days of CD trans- fer; so the company that owns A&M's masters should consider a remaster and repackage of this material. They may have this on the drawing board (I sincerely hope so!). As for the music itself, most of his major hits...

2.0 out of 5 stars "BILLY'S MUSIC SCREAMS FOR A MAJOR REMASTER AND REPACKAGE!, April 24, 2000
This review is from: Billy Preston: The Best (Audio CD)
Although I own this CD, every time I listen to it, I am dissatisfied. Firstly, the sound is muddy for it was created in the early days of CD trans- fer; so the company that owns A&M's masters should consider a remaster and repackage of this material. They may have this on the drawing board (I sincerely hope so!). As for the music itself, most of his major hits are represented on this package, except the notable omissions of "You're So Unique" (1973), "(Theme From) Slaughter" (1972), a personal favorite "Wide Stride" (1978), album cut "There's a Train A Comin'..." (1973) culled from "Everybody Likes Some Kind Of Music" LP, and his last big hit, 1979's mega-hit duet with Syreeta Wright on the Motown label "With You I'm Born Again", taken from the movie which I've forgotten but starred the man who played "Kotter" on television... All in all, with the 20-24 bit remastering and re- packaging of this material, it could become a best seller all over again. Billy's music deserves the respect it earned.

I have always been a Billy Preston fan because he is such a versatile musician. He plays and sings. He is also a gospel artist. I hope a boxed CD will be cut so that music fans of his can better appreciate his talents musically and his gospel/soul singing.

Billy Preston is a master of the keyboard. A lot of people these days play like they've never even had a lesson, Billy plays like a pro. This album is full of upbeat, danceable songs that make you wanna get outta' your chair and groove. It's a very complete set of Billy's hits, I highly reccomend it.
