5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating Beatle Story!
Truly an amazing story! Dr. Lev writes an intriging and inspiring story anyone interested in Beatles history or conspiracy theories will enjoy. This book is fun to read and captivating because of the plot, storyline and of course the Beatles.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beatles don't act like Beatles
I really thought that this would be a fun book--but it's only fun if the charactors act like they would in real life. In this book, Beatles don't act like Beatles. They hardly reacted to one of their beloved own dying. It was all about the business and keeping it going. The actual mythology at the time (there were Paul is dead society magazines out)-had to do with...

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating Beatle Story!, May 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Billy Shears: The Secret History of the Beatles (Hardcover)
Truly an amazing story! Dr. Lev writes an intriging and inspiring story anyone interested in Beatles history or conspiracy theories will enjoy. This book is fun to read and captivating because of the plot, storyline and of course the Beatles.
The main characters and story revolve around "The Beatles" arguably the most creative rock and roll band ever. Billy Shears is Billy Campbell a young man that gets involved in the Beatles and more than your average fan. Billy Shears is really a clue off "Seargent Pepper" that "Billy is here". That is really just the tip of the iceberg as we say, this plot will leave you mesmerized. And I guarantee you will be getting out your old vinyl Beatle albums and listening and looking for all the clues. It is truly an interesting story. And all Beatle fans will get wrapped up in this story.
It would not surprise me in the next few years to hear of a big movie coming out on this very book "Billy Shears". My hat is off to you Dr. Lev. Simply a masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised!, September 8, 2004

This review is from: Billy Shears: The Secret History of the Beatles (Hardcover)
It's so interesting to see somebody actually connect the clues and write a story as "the answer". Very imaginative Doctor Lev! I was skeptical at first, but now I'm actually back into the whole Paul-Is-Dead thing! Thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars A cute story...perfect for kids!, March 20, 2003
This review is from: Billy Shears: The Secret History of the Beatles (Hardcover)
I'm so glad to see that there's finally a Beatles book out there that a young child, my son, can actually read! Even though this book was a simple and short read, it was great because it explained the McCartney death rumor to me in a short and fun way. Now I'm intrigued enough to buy one of the books that lists all the clues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Willy Wonka!, March 19, 2003
This review is from: Billy Shears: The Secret History of the Beatles (Hardcover)
This story reminded me of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! A young man suddenly gets a chance to become rich and famous beyond his wildest dreams. The story is short but to the point. My kids followed every word and now want to know more about the Beatles!

I really thought that this would be a fun book--but it's only fun if the charactors act like they would in real life. In this book, Beatles don't act like Beatles. They hardly reacted to one of their beloved own dying. It was all about the business and keeping it going. The actual mythology at the time (there were Paul is dead society magazines out)-had to do with their profound grief and spiritual connection so that they could sort of resurrect the real Paul through Billy Shears. In this story the Beatles are afraid that the companies in control could replace any of them. Give me a break!!
It's too simplistic to be intriguing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Worst dialogue ever, November 4, 2002
This review is from: Billy Shears: The Secret History of the Beatles (Hardcover)
Although interesting for it's topic, and clever in the way it manages to take on board the various Paul Is Dead clues, it hardly ever surpasses the level of a mediocre school essay.
The dialogue (and there is plenty of it) in the book is the worst I've ever read. The attempt of creating a 'typical' UK accent fails completely and the pace of the book is completely wrong in a number of places.

I love the Beatles but never knew about this mystery. This book was a quick but intriguing read, and very cute. Now I need to listen to all my Beatles CDs again to listen for the clues. I'm so excited!

I have never seen anybody "connect" all the clues before...it's like somebody has finally SOLVED the mystery! A great book to have in a Beatles collection! I have been into the death clues for years. Now, my kids are into it because of this cute story/book!

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Billy Shears: The Secret History of the Beatles (Hardcover)
OK, it's an entertaining read, but for those of us living on the European side of the Atlantic the UK described here bears no resemblance to the real place. And of course, Americans never get British speech patterns right. Shades of Dick Van Dyke doing a terrible cockney accent in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - a film regarded as not suitable for nervous English kids, X rated!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book and an interesting take on "Paul Is Dead", April 28, 2002

Douglas S Miller (Barton, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Billy Shears: The Secret History of the Beatles (Hardcover)
While this book may be on of the few Beatles books that are geared for the younger generation it is definitely a great book. It take a very interesting look at the "Paul is dead" rumors and the breakup of The Beatles. It's hard to put down.
