Biography

Billy Talent is Canadian rock band formed with the original name Pezz in 1993. Though they started working together while still at High school and recorded a couple of demos, their first album didn't come together until 1998. They released Watoosh! independently and it performed well locally but failed to achieve broader recognition.

They changed their name and their fortunes in 2001 and by the… Read more in Amazon's Billy Talent Store

Editorial Reviews

EU pressing includes bonus tracks. 'Billy Talent III' is the fourth full-length album from this Canadian rock act. Taking influence from heavy metal, classic rock and hardcore punk, Billy Talent have crafted a sound that has become very much their own. As always lead vocalist Benjamin Kowalewicz's crisp, biting vocals are instantly recognisable. Produced by Brendan O'Brien (Incubus, Audioslave), 'Billy Talent III' features the singles 'Rusted From The Rain' and 'Turn Your Back'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Billy Talent's FANS are getting worse, not their music, July 20, 2009
This review is from: III (Dlx) (Audio CD)
I'm surprised at some of the brutal reviews this album is getting. No it hasn't been released in the US yet (it's been released here in Canada though), but this album has gotten terrible reviews from different sources.

I, for starters, wasn't too big a fan of their debut, it was just a tad bit too new-wave for my tastes. And then Billy Talent II came... whoa. MAJOR step up. Definitely an early departure, but still a good one- had a lot of good catchy rockers and a lot of good ballads. I saw Billy Talent live on support of that tour back in '07 at Rexall Place on January 25th, with openers Anti-Flag, Rise Against and Moneen. What a great show it was, it was probably one of the best shows I've seen, I'd place it in 3rd position on my favorite shows list.

2009 has not been a very good year for new music, really. There have been a lot of boring and half-arsed efforts from good bands (Alexisonfire, Green Day, Heaven and Hell, Dream Theater, etc.) And I thought Billy Talent could not be any better, but boy was I wrong! This is probably their best effort. Definitely better than Nickelcrap and the other stuff we've been getting this year.

It's a very different effort from the band, but still maintaining that Billy Talent sound. Ben's vocals are top notch, the musicianship is amazing, etc. Not one weak song on here actually, every song is memorable and worth a listen. Some of the best tracks include the killer opener "Devil on my Shoulder", "Tears Into Wine", "Turn Your Back", and "Diamond on a Landmine".

The only thing I don't like is some of the song titles (Definition of Destiny, Pocketful of Dreams, Sudden Movements, etc.). But other than that this is a great album and maybe their best. I'm sold, hit me with Billy Talent IV!
