I purchased this gate to contain my son's vivacious little Pug in our family room. I originally had the expanding type, but when I injured my knee, it became impossible to step over it. I liked the clean look of this gate and that it was black. Black has a tendency to "disappear" as opposed to beige or white. If you have to have a gate, this one is very chic.

Installation was quite a "balancing act." The installation instructions assume you don't have baseboards. To have the gate work properly - that is, to automatically close and latch, the tension has to be even. The gate comes looking like it's broken, but that's part of the tension issue. Also, the description says that it is tension mounted - no bolting to the walls, but the instructions recommend screwing "end caps" onto your wall and putting the tension bars into them. This would definitely make the gate much more secure, if needed, like for a child, but I didn't want to do that for my temporary purpose. The tension is achieved similar to that of a shower rod - by twisting the ends of the bars.

There are two latches on this gate. One on top and one on the base. I could not adjust my gate to the point of getting the top latch to connect, but the bottom one works fine. I have to give a slight upward pull to "release" it. Despite this small issue, the gate is perfect and works smoothly. I like the fact that it opens both ways and latches automatically when closing.

Finally, my space was just slightly over the 42.5 allowance. I used some small felt pads to adjust the fit, but this could also be the reason I couldn't get enough tension to get the top latch connected. For my "non-secure" application, this isn't a big issue. I wouldn't recommend this "fix" for securing a child, though.

From opening the box to having the gate installed took about 20 minutes. I would buy another one of these if I had to.

This is a GREAT dog gate. It is so easy to install - you dont need any tools. The extender just fits right into place - nothing to put together. You dont have to screw anything into the wall, its all pressure mounted. I have two Siberian Huskies, a giant Heinz-57 and two Pomeranians - and a toddler - so finding a gate that would work for all was a little tricky. I mounted this one a little up off of the floor to get some extra height and its working perfectly. Neither the baby or the dogs have gotten past it yet.

Its easy to open with one hand. It also happens to look really nice! I'm very pleased with it.

Measure carefully - there isn't alot of give.

Looks very nice and has a tight fit. Our dog jumps up on it and it doesn't even budge. Very easy to install. Latch is a little hard to work, but probably has to be to keep younger kids from figuring out how to open it.

I bought this to keep a small dog and a kitten contained. The height was excellent as neither pet could climb the vertical bars, nor could they jump 40 inches straight up, but the kitten (5months old/5lbs) easily got through the spaces between the bars. Pluses are great design esthetic, and felt really secure mounted in the space where other gates have seemed like they are going to "give" with the slightest pressure. Negatives - did not suit one of my purposes since the slats are far enough apart to allow a smaller pet to get through. Also makes a really loud "CLANG" every time it closes. Even using a level, unfortunately this gate never lined up properly for me as per the directions and instructional video on their site. Customer service was very cordial/helpful but in the end after troubleshooting all areas it seems this unit is defective and will have to go back. FYI, this company makes and markets a "baby" model/version of this EXACT same gate and can be found here on Amazon for about half the price - search under Dream Baby.

This gate is terrific. I use it to keep my large German Shepherd contained in one part of the house and the extra height compared to other products is a huge plus. The opening is larger than most other gates I looked at as well. It's not bad looking at all, and for me, blends well with the decor (I have wrought iron pieces in my home).

I am using it in a 42" hallway opening and I was concerned being at the edge of the gate's range. Proved to be no problem. Fits snug with just the expansion pressure (I did not install the mounting cups because the gate is a temporary solution for me - I have seen no problem with using the gate this way; it is very tight and stable).

I have not found a problem with the baseboard noted by an alternate review. Also have not noticed and issues with the gate moving/shifting in use. Take your time to ensure it's installed correctly - level and plumb and tight - and you will not be disappointed. Self closing/latching works like a charm and I love the dual door swing in or out.

Overall very pleased with this product.

I am so impressed by this dog gate! We recently were given an American Bulldog-Blue Heeler mix puppy, and we also have three other dogs: an elderly miniature poodle, a cocker spaniel and a border collie mix. Introducing a bulldog mix into the pack made us a bit nervous due to the "bully breed" reputation. While it appears now that the puppy is just a big goofy "love muffin", we still feel more secure that we can confine the pup to a specific area of the house when we aren't home. We don't want any arguments between the dogs breaking out when we aren't home! The gate was shipped out so quickly...it arrived days before we expected it! And it was easy enough to set up, according to my husband and SIL. Fit perfectly into the hall we installed it in, and the latch is easy to use. The self-closing feature is a big plus, too. It sure doesn't hurt that the gate is also attractive! This one's a winner!

We have purchased 3 black bindaboo pet gates (28" to 32" and taller and wider) so far and see more in our future as we strive to contain two beautiful, active, but destructive if unsupervised, dogs in our home. The gates have worked like a charm. Our furniture, rugs, and personal property in our "off limits" rooms are safe from being chewed on or otherwise damaged now. The gates are attractive, very sturdy, reliable, and do not damage the door jams in any way. They swing shut and dogs can't open them or push through them. One of the dogs is a large, strong black lab. We've tried using baby gates and other dog gate products for dogs for over 25 years, but these are by far the best we've ever seen. If you are considering this product then consider the Dreambaby gate to save some cash. This looks to be the same exact product as the Dreambaby Extra Tall Swing Close Gate with Extensions, Black which is a lower price. Look at the pictures and instructional video. It's all the same just a different package. The videos even have the same script.

We recently acquired a new foster dog into our home (French Bulldog) who has the ability to jump over the standard gates we have used in the past. While searching on Amazon I came across this bindaboo gate. Everything about it was appealing to me except that I would be required to purchase an additional extension so it would fit in our hallway. After looking on Amazon some more I came across this product Dreambaby Extra Tall Swing Close Gate with Extensions, White. It is the EXACT same gate as the bindaboo, it is just marketed as a baby gate. The dreambaby gate comes with two extensions and a lower price tag.

The quality of these gates are excellent. I found one design feature That I did not like, you must slide the button on top of the gate back and lift up to open the door. It is awkward trying to slide the button and lift the gate while holding a leash in your other hand. It's no big deal though, I simply got a small piece of electrical tape and applied it over the latching mechanism. Problem solved.

We bought this gate to facilitate the introduction of 2 new cats to our household that already included 2 cats. The instructions for installing the product were clear and easy to follow, and the gate is sturdy and works quite well. One of the cats is athletic and ambitious enough to jump over it, so it really doesn't do much to restrict his movements if he really wants out. Otherwise the gate accomplishes its purpose. The spacing of the slats is narrow enough so that even the very small new female cat can't squeeze through. Small kittens might get through however. Installing and removing the gate is easy enough, but sufficiently time consuming that it's not something one would want to do on a regular basis. (If you wanted something easy to remove each time you had guests, this is not your item.) The upside of this is that the gate is stable with a good solid feel to it.
