About the Author

SHASHI DESHPANDE is the author of seven novels, including A Matter of Time, as well as several volumes of short stories and a number of children’s books. She is winner of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award. Sonita Sarker is chair of women's and gender studies and faculty in English at Macalester College. She has published widely on modern South Asian and British women's literature, and is editor of Marking Time and Territories: Genders in the Globalization of South and South-east Asia. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.
