The wonderful, consistant message of Bing books is that when something goes wrong, or isn't quite what you had hoped, there's always a way to regroup and turn those lemons into lemonade. Imagine, for instance, you've packed everything you need for a fantastic picnic and it starts to rain...
"It's no big thing," as Bing and Flop say, is a great mantra for the sensitive toddler.

Why aren't these books better known in the US? My sons absolutely love the Bing Books. Dewan knows exactly how to write a book that has the right rhythm and colors to engage even the youngest child. When my younger son was a newborn and ignored most books, he enjoyed Bing. Now that he is a year and a half, he spends hours flipping through them and laughs the whole time - which is the same effect these books had on my older son.

My little grandson's favorite. He does all the sounds. What could be cuter than an 18 month old doing the sounds? The stories are appropriate to the age.

I wish Bing were as popular in America as Barney is. These books are a hoot and my son just can't get enough of them. I checked all 8 out from the library and had to end up buying them.
Bing is a bunny who interacts with his stuffed animal Flop. The books show Bing learning colors, foods, potty training, etc., all in the course of a day. Adults will enjoy the '60s vibe of the cars, houses and furniture in the books. Maybe an animated Bing show in America will make these books as popular as they deserve to be. |
