The Miracle of Books,
By Lila Kostin (North Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Binky Ba-ba Fairy (Paperback)
This book is a Miracle! It worked like a charm. My 2 1/2 year old daughter refused to give up her pacifier. I thought she would be 8 and still have it. After reading it everynight for a few weeks she was excited for the Binky Baba fairy to come! I recommend this book to all parents! BUY IT NOW it works. I love it. I plan to buy the authors other book. I will also review that one.

It worked after we read it the first time...,

My 2-year-old son gave up his pacifier after we read this book the first time. I thought it would take a few days at least before he got the idea of the fairy but as soon as I said "the end" he voluntarily put his pacifier in a box and left it outside his bedroom door. True, the drawings are are very simple but it got the point across. He was no longer using the bottle at this point and we never called his pacifier a binky so when I read the book I modify it a bit and not read the bottle part and use the word pacifier instead. I think the reason it worked well for my son is because he was only using his pacifier at night and he wasn't allowed to take it out of his bedroom. We still read this book everynight because it reminds him that is a big boy now!

This is THE book that worked for getting our daughter to give up her binky. After the first reading, she was ready to leave her binky for the binky fairy. We had to stall so we could get a little gift for the fairy to leave behind!

Finally,
This review is from: The Binky Ba-ba Fairy (Paperback)
My daughter is approaching 4 years and it was definitely time to give up her night time binky habit. Bought the book and it took about 3 weeks but just the other day she stated that she no longer needed her binkies to make her feel better at night, she put them in a box and left them outside her door before bed. 2 hours later after much whining she snuck out of bed and took the binkies. Once she was asleep I snuck them away and left her big girl present outside her door. In the morning she triumphantly declared that she was a big girl now, and she hasn't had a binky in her mouth for 3 days now.

The story is good and actually helped our daughter quit using her pacifier. But the pictures in the book are not all that great but it gets the point across.

Awesome book, Yes, simple illustrations... but perfect for the age group,

I read other reviews complaining about the illustations and at first was hesitant to get this book (even though you can clearly see the illustration on the cover). I purchased the book anyways because I have tried EVERYTHING to rid my son of his pacifier and nothing had worked! When we got the book I felt my son related to the simply drawn illustrations. The story was sweet and understandable. We read it a few nights in a row and every night asked if he was ready. On the 4th night he packed up all of his binkys and was ready to give them up! I had to send my husband out to a 24 hour drug store to buy some surprises from the fairy because I didnt think it would happen so fast! No crying, no whining.... It was worth every penny. I would have paid double. Take it from someone who triend 10 different books listed with this one. I should have bought this one first!!! I am potty training my older daughter and I purchased the authors other book. I like how the children can relate. I recommend both books!

I was disappointed in the Binky BaBa Fairy. Especially for the cost, it is extremely low budget. The illustrations (which you can't preview online) are amateur at best; they are done using crayons/color pencils. I like the idea of a binky fairy and using a book to help sell it, however, seeing as it is pretty close to homemade, I would just make your own book.

Disappointing,

After seeing this book, I was surprised to see so many positive reviews. I thought the graphics were so poorly done, your child could have done a better job. It certainly did not look like a professional book. Anyone could have done something like this. I returned it right away since I didn't think it was worth the money. Also, my 2 year old son was bored.

Amusing,

My 2 1/2-year-old daughter thought this book was amusing. That's about it. She laughed when the fairy took the kid's box of binkies. I guess she is in denial of being too big to have a binky because half way through the book she said, "Ok, the end. All done. Next book, please."
The illustrations are very nice and it was a very good attempt on the author's part to help kids rid the binky (and bottle) forever. It just didn't work for mine.

this book came highly recommended from an acquaintance, but it didn't work for us. the illustrations aren't that great and the message of trading in the binky for a big girl gift wasn't understood. I think there are better alternatives out there.
