Binky is a space cat. At least Binky thinks he is a space cat. In his mind, he has built his own spaceship, traveled to outer space, and is engaged in a continual battle with aliens (which we might call flies) from overtaking his space station (cat bed). He will now face his greatest challenge to date.

Binky is blissfully passing his days, lolling around on the space station, perfecting a balanced sequence of eat, nap, eat, nap, cuddle. He is rudely awakened one afternoon by a strange cat looming over his bed. Worse yet, Gracie the foster cat will be staying awhile. Binky will have to share his food bowls, litter box, and cuddle time. Blech. While Binky is terrific at battling aliens, he is not so great at sharing.

After a few failed attempts to coerce the strange cat into leaving, Binky makes a shocking discovery. Gracie isn't just some stray ... she's a card carrying (literally) Certified Space Cat. This cat is his boss and she's here to conduct evaluations to determine if he shall maintain space cat status. Although Binky is a bit rusty (due to his nap, eat, nap schedule) he perseveres and shows his boss what he's made of. He does so well in a giant alien showdown that he is promoted. Shortly after, Gracie moves in with the family next door and they begin making plans to construct a secret tunnel to connect their space stations.

This book is done in a comic book kind of style, which I have found to be quite appealing to kids. I think this just the right combination between a picture book and an older reader. It's not babyish at all, there are tons of photos, and just enough dialogue to be interesting but not overwhelming.

Obviously, the plot is pretty funny, and Binky is an engaging subject.

I first read Binky the Space Cat with my son last year; we really really enjoyed it. So I was excited when I saw Binky Under Pressure sitting on the shelf in the library. It was another great Binky book.

Binky is still a certified Space Cat but then Gracie shows up. Gracie is an adorable striped kitten and Binky is determined to expose her flaws to the family. During his investigation he finds out a shocking truth about Gracie and all of Binky's Space Cat skills are tested.

This is an absolutely hilarious and adorable book, suitable to all ages. Binky is funny, witty, a bit accident prone and super cute. My five year old loves this series of books and I love reading them with him.

As with all of these books there is a bit of a message/learning here. Binky learns not to judge a book by its cover and to cope with feelings of jealousy. He also learns how teamwork can save the day.

Overall another great Binky book. Highly recommended for kids and parents who love to read with their kids. This is a funny, cute, and very well done book. If you love graphic novels this is one of those great ones that parents and kids will equally enjoy.

Blinky a black and white space cat has gotten too comfortable at his assigned space station. When Grace, an orange striped tabby, shows up his world is turned upside down. Upon learning she is there to evaluate him Blinky makes lots of mistakes until his space station is invaded by alien bees. They are forced to work together to save his humans and his space station. Will Blinky pass the test?

This book is a cute story written like a graphic novel. It's sure to have children laughing with the silly antics Blinky plays to find out if Grace is an alien. This would be a good book to be read for story time. The illustrations are funny and aid in telling the story. It is also written like a graphic novel. There is an AR test available for this book too.

I read this book with my children and they laughed through out the story. They really enjoyed knowing the outcome before Blinky realized it.

Reason for Reading: Next in the series.

I'm not exactly what one could call a "pet person" but Binky is just about the most adorable cat creation ever. His adventures would be down right hilarious if he just weren't so serious about himself. Spires perfectly captures the attitude and idiosyncrasies of house cats everywhere in Binky and we can understand why they have such 'tude when we realize what an important job they actually have protecting us humans from the aliens. Binky and Gracie are wonderful together as they interact and try to best each other. With an adorable story, Spires pulls it all together with her droll artwork that manages to convey such emotion within each small drawing of Binky. Binky is sure to capture the hearts of cat lovers of all ages!

Read all the Binky books. Fall in love with this quirky cat. We did in my house and this book is ranked as my daughter's favorite Binky book. She has returned to it over and over again, giggling and snickering at what makes Binky tick/sweat/worry. The illustrations are just enough to tell the story without overdoing it. The very notion of a cat with space gas just adds to the overall experience and need to snicker. Spires has given life to a fantastic critter with a very memorable personality.
