I had heard about this product when I was pregnant with my first child, but didn't get a chance to use it. I used cocoa butter and baby oil, and I ended up with some pretty bad stretch marks. Now that I am pregnant with my second child, I decided that it might be beneficial to try to prevent getting any more if possible. Within 3 days of using this product, my magenta colored stretch marks have turned brownish and are fading significantly. It's amazing! I wish I had thought to take pics. I have even used it on my face and it feels wonderful, as it absorbs very quickly. As a side-note, an old stitches scar on my palm is also diminishing because of the contact with the oil. I highly recommend this to anyone with small scars, wrinkles, crows-feet, or stretch marks. Great Product!

UPDATE 2: Bio-oil continued to work, and it actually helped the scar area look all the same when I got some sun on it this summer. I did find a picture of the original injury (it's not for the squeamish, but it will show how long my original was. UPDATE: It has been a little over three weeks since I started using Bio-oil. In fact, I stopped using it four days ago to see if the positive results were only temporary. While I was using Bio-oil on the liver spots, not only did the spots fade, but other nearby spots (2.5 inches away) faded, too, even though they were not applied directly with Bio-oil. The spots came back after two days of not using Bio-oil, not as dark, as they were, but they did come back. My forehead scar has continued to disappear even after I stopped, so I am going to continue putting Bio-oil on it. Not only has the scar tissue turned from being reddish to now looking like the my regular skin color, the area of the scar which was a little higher is now decreasing to where I can hardly feel the any rise in the area. I will update this review in another 2-3 weeks, and try to take some pictures of the scar. The pictures I took three weeks ago didn't show as much as it really looks like, but it did show the higher rise. I'll post whatever the final pictures look like and compare them to the original wound (really bad looking) and those from three weeks ago, along with the final pictures in two weeks.

When I saw this product offered to "Vine" participants, I thought it would be one that my wife, who is a fair-skinned blond, could use. She applied it to a place on her arm for several days before I asked her about it. When I looked at her arm, I could immediately tell where she had used it for that area was smoother looking and even felt smoother.

This got me very interested in Bio-Oil, and I thought I'd use it on a scar on my head near my hairline and on a "liver" spot (or is it called an "age" spot?), and I have been very pleased with the results.

The scar is a little over two inches long in the shape of an "L," and for the three years I've had it, almost an inch of it was still reddish and has looked like it was still healing. The doctor who treated me told me to put Neosporin on it, and it would heal without much of a scar. Well, he was wrong. Now, in the week that I have been using Bio-Oil, the red part of the scar has decreased in length to where it is only 1/4th of an inch in length. The liver spot on the back of my hand has decreased in color to where it is difficult to find.

Like one other reviewer, I am going to post a follow-up to this review in several weeks to let you know two things: 1) Did both areas, the scar and the liver spot, continue to improve, and 2) What happened once I stopped applying Bio-Oil, for it is one thing for a product to work, but it is even better if the product produced some sort of permanent result.

NOTE: The results are in. The liver spots came back after I stopped applying Bio-oil, but the scar stayed healed, and I am posting two pictures. I hate to say it, but after I got such great initial results, I didn't apply Bio-oil on a regular basis, so your results with the liver (aging) spots may be better. Of the two pictures, one shows how the scar looked after the doctor treated it and had me use Neosporin. That picture was taken in 2005 after it had been healed for a year. The scar was still very visible and looked this way even three years later before I started using Bio-oil. The second picture was taken just a few days ago. I am pretty confident I could have had even better results, but I'm just not used to treating myself for anything for more than three weeks.

I bought this stuff and used up one bottle (lasted about 2 months). At first I used it on my face for hyper-pigmentation and scaring left over from acne and on parts of my body for stretch marks. I ended up getting several huge cystic nodules from it on my face. Also it made my face very greasy and constantly looked wet. So it wasn't good for my face but I decided to keep trying it for stretch marks. I used it diligently for 2 months like it says on the bottle and took before and after pictures. There are no noticeable differences.

I do not want to recommend that people do not buy this product because it seems some people have had great results with it. I googled it and it turns out that bio-oil is made with mineral oil which is a petroleum based byproduct. I did some more digging and learned that contrary to popular belief Mineral oil is not comedogenic (pore clogging) but it does however produce a suffocation effect on your skin and makes it unable to absorb nutrients and to detoxify itself. Which pretty much renders the nutrients in this product useless. There are some pretty bad reviews out there for this stuff made by professionals. Now having said that I will admit that I am no doctor, and I like to think that the people who made this know more about this stuff then I do. After all there has to be something good about it if so many people have had positive results. My advice is sure go ahead and try it, why not. Its cheap. But I would suggest to only use it on your body NOT your face. That area is just too delicate and sensitive and I just wouldn't risk it. Also do not forget to do a patch test first! I cannot stress this enough.

I had some success with fading stretch marks by using a microneedle roller or sometimes called a dermaroller. They are expensive but I bought one off of ebay pretty cheap. Then buy some non oil based and non-comedogenic nutrient serum (I'm currently using babyface products also sold on ebay). The roller and the serum combined has done wonders for me.

Heck not every product out there is a miracle worker, I am sure very few give overnight results. I began using this product every single day about two months ago and it works WONDERS. First you can use it for stretch marks but with a 2 oz. bottle I would stick with small areas. Then you can use it for scars and to moisturize your face and neck, ladies! You must follow the instructions even though they are pretty simple. If I am using this for acne scars, skin discolorations (sun exposure), uneven skin tone I apply either over makeup (may not be recommended as this could remove your makeup)and on a freshly washed face. I use the lengths of my fingers not fingertips since they produce the oils that could cause you breakouts from YES touching your face. I rub into the affected area or scar (even works on cystic acne scars) atleast two to three times a day when I am able to. But if not I do this at night before going to bed. Be patient and wait one to two weeks before you notice a big difference as the scar gets lighter your face appears to be glowing and skin discolorations slowly fade. Keep on it atleast everyday and if you want faster results like I did then rub this oil into the area two to three times a day. I am glad I bought this and one bottle lasted me over two months and I used it everyday! Give this product a try, be patient, follow the directions and you may not be disappointed.

I for years have struggled with Rosacea. The prescription creams from my doctor manage to prevent outbreaks but do not address the redness well. I've been using this product for over two weeks and there has been a marked decrease in the redness on my cheeks, nose and chin.

The product applies well and is quickly absorbed by the skin. There is no oily residue.

Another thing I really like about this product is a little goes a long way. As I said I have been using this for over 2 weeks and looking at the bottle just a little has been used.

This is a great product with wonderful results!

I have a friend who had several rather large new surgery incisions. She was really worried about scaring. I told her about Bio-Oil and she started using it. Now 6 months later she is still raving about how well her scars have healed! She states that even her surgeon is very impressed!

I am a burn survivor with 35% scarring on my body. I went to a burn conference and there was a Bio Oil booth promoting their product. I was skeptical, but would use any product given to me for free as I am trying to find alternatives to lessen the visibility of old scar tissues. Being Asian, Hispanic, African American compared to Caucasians tend to scar more due to our pigmentation of our skin, so while I was using this I noticed my skin was softer and moist until I showered. When it comes to scarring due to burns, your skin is dried out to the max! With Bio Oil, I'd put 2-3 drops in with any lotion after I'd shower and it would keep it moist until my next shower. I don't have to reapply throughout the day. Not only being moist, but my skin color looked evened out. I'm not saying it's going to make the scars disappear, but at least the coloration of it was evening out which "makes it look" blended. I now am going to buy it bulks scared that it will run out. I recommend this to anybody with super dry skin. It's also not oily and absorbs really fast. Great for the dry winter months that's for sure! It made me feel great & look great.

I purchased this on the recommendation of a co-worker; I have acne scars, and short of dermabrasion, I've been told nothing could improve the appearance of my skin. It's only been a few weeks, and I have not been all that diligent about using the BioOil twice a day -- but I already see improvement in the scarring. AND -- totally unexpected, evening out of skin tone...both a lightening of dark spots and blending of white ones.
(Those ugly "sun spots" that occur here in the sunbelt.) I've begun using it on my forearms, and there is marked improvement in the sundamage. This is pretty great stuff.

I saw a commercial on TV and it caught my eyes. Immediately ordered it (from Amazon, of cource). I've been struggling with acne for years, I have acne scars all over my face (I'm in 30s). Although I don't get many breakouts as I used to, I still have one or two zits come out and they are big, painful ones. When they finally heal, it leaves dark, red-brownish scar. I really wanted them go away.

I've read all the mixed reviews, so didn't expect much. But it worked! I am pleasantly surprised. I only applied at night after I wash my face. Though the texture is light for oil, it does get greasy when applied, I don't think it's appropriate for morning application on face. As many have mentioned, it is oil afterall. However, when I woke up in the morning, greasiness are gone and my skin feels soft and moisturized.
I've been using this once a day for 3 weeks now and I DO see a difference. The unevenness and redness are significantly reduced. I'm not saying they are completely gone, but acne scars look much lighter now. A surprizing side effect is that I haven't got any breakout since I started using this product. My skin is finally acne-free! I've tried many, many things over the years, but never thought of applying oil on my skin rather tried to avid it. I don't know if this still works during summer time as my skin tends to get oily, but I'll keep using it. I know it didn't work for some people but it did great job on my acne-prone skin. I brought and used this product after seeing it advertised on Tv . My surgery was Last Sept 2007. I've been using this product for 1 month now . It's Great ! I need to re-order now. My Scares were very Deep & Ugly !
Women of Color , You Need this !

I've been using this oil according to the directions--twice a day for 3 months, although I did miss a day here or there.

Pros:
It's a nice, very light scent. The smell is temporary and then wafts away, so it's not perfumy.

It's a very nice oil that absorbs quickly. It leaves only a very slight oily film on the skin that goes away within an hour.

I did not have any kind of skin rash or reaction to it, although I did not try this on my face.

A little goes a long way, so even though the bottle is small, it lasts well beyond three months, although it also depends on how large an area you are treating.

Cons:
I used this on my stretch marks and really saw very little difference. We even took a picture before I started using it just to make sure.

This was more of an experiment since I'm not really that self conscious about my stretch marks (they're mostly covered up) so I'm not upset, but I was hoping for some more dramatic difference.

My husband used it on his surgery scars, and he also saw very little change. But he has a tendency to keloid, which might be why the Bio-Oil didn't work for him. He has had minimal improvement no matter what oil or lotion he uses, even pure vitamin E.

However, it's apparent that this oil does work for some people, even if it didn't work very much for us. I think it's worth a shot if you're desperate to get rid of scars or uneven skin tone.
