Piers Anthony is one of the few authors that does not limit himself to one genre. Bio of a Space Tyrant is not anything like his famus fantasy Xanth novel, yet it is still beyond comparison. Hope Hubris seeks revenge on those pirates that plagued him and his family in the last book. I got a copy from the library but I am now trying desperatly to find my own copy. A little known Piers Anthony novel. In this series Anthony strays from his usual fantasy comedy(Xanth series)and develops an epic adventure in which Hope Hubris, a Hispanic refugee, is forced to come to terms with adulthood before he is ready. It is the most interesting independent science fiction series I have ever read. Anthony's unique way of conquering a genre with a single novel struck hard in the BST series. From the first page it captivated me. BST may very well be my favorite set of books I own. Anthony is able to form a series that is limited only to the solar system not the galaxy. His villains are realistic and technology is not "out of this world", as it were. There is only one sad thing; it was not popular enough to be kept in print for future sci-fi lovers to enjoy. This story captivated me. I started reading it when I was in highschool and couldn't put it down. Between then and now, 10 years later, I've read the series over again a million times. Read the first couple of pages and if you don't want to read anymore, I'd be shocked.

The chronicle of the life and conquests of Hope Hubris begins and ends in unexpected manner. Ambitious in its scope; an exciting space adventure that spans the galaxy, and an allegory about life and politics here on earth. A gripping read on superficial levels and an insightful thesis on others.

i have had a special place in my heart for thease books from the day i first picked the first out of my fathers bookshelf at the age of 16. I have taken what i could from thease books and it has helped shape me as the person who i am today. from all i have read of piers anthony , i have never felt cheated or dissapointed. to all who read thease books and others, you will truely enter a new world. boastyrant@yahoo.com

BST is one of the best fantasy sci/fi series I've ever read. Yes, Piers pushes the envelope (when you're not reading the old Xanth books, that is). Bio deals with many issues in a REAL WORLD kinda way, which makes the stories results all the more intriguing, and realistic. Some might say the series has too much to do with sex to make it appeal to a teenage audience. I say that Piers, although sometimes offensive in the way he deals with sexuality in his books, also tells it the way it is, which is often offensive in real life. This author also has some of the most innovative and creative books blending sci/fi and fantasy that I've ever read.

The politics that Piers Anthony creates in his books will make you think twice about staying home to read instead of voting. (OK so you might think that's a stupid point...but you're entitled to your opinion!)

I think Piers is one of the best writers I've ever read, and BST is what made me think so. (Don't judge him on the endless Xanth books he puts out....please....he puts out!)

I, like many who reviewed this series, got into this series when I was 16 years old. The inordinate amount of sex was surely a major aspect of my voracious reading of this series. As I look back, 14 years later, I ralize that Piers Anthony had a gift of coming up with some great plots. Yet he had to suffuse them with so much sex (and bad sex, may I say), which he does with virtually every book he writes, that the story just becomes soft porn books. Of course teen boys love it! But this is not real science fiction.

The writing of Piers Anthony is mediocre at best, lacking in complex characters. His strength is good plots and knowing how to turn teen boys on.
