Very, very thin,

During the brief time I used these bags, at least half of the time the bag either tore or leaked. I'm all for "going green", but unless you're very delicate with your garbage, only placing perfectly dry and very soft/flexible/amorphous items in your kitchen garbage can, these just don't hold up to what I would consider typical and reasonable use.

have been using these bags about 1.5 year now. I used to like them (you should not be looking at the price.....), but the last 2 boxes I bought changed my mind. It seems that the bags are now made of a different compound and are not able to stretch as before. In other words, they tear very very quickly and I cannot get them fit into my 13 gallon trash bin anymore without tearing them.... very very frustrating, especially @ $0.50 per bag..

Not at all durable. These tear very easily.,
This review is from: BioBag Biodegradable Trash Bags (Kitchen)
These are not a decent substitute, alas, for the standard tall kitchen bag. They are gossamer thin, and tear easily, both if the waste is moist [what kitchen waste isn't?] and if it is anything but softly rounded [think boxes, packing material, anything with right angles]. This product doesn't live up to its promise.

Great BioBags, 3-gallon bags very handy for compost bucket,
By Mrs. Wilson (Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: BioBag Biodegradable Trash Bags (Kitchen)
These bags are a perfect complement to the compost bucket that I also purchased via amazon. I have left them in the bucket for as long as it takes to fill it with food scraps and have not noticed the bag beginning to break down prior to it becoming full. I'm finally using my big composter now that I have these handy little bags. They are stronger than expected. The only reason they lost one star was for the price, but I imagine it's a competitive price, so don't let it stop you. If you can find them in a store somewhere, that would be the ideal way to purchase them; the shipping is what doubled the price for me.
For someone who is just getting started with composting, I would highly recommend a kitchen compost pail (not the plastic pail though), these 3-gallon bags, and a decent outdoor composting bin. It makes the entire process much easier and more straight-forward for someone who's never done this before.

Huge disappointment,
This review is from: BioBag Biodegradable Trash Bags (Kitchen)
These bags are *extremely* fragile. I have to double bag my modest 1-person garbage supply to make it to the curb without messy and frustrating spillage. The bags are small and expensive and definitely do not withstand even moderate use. I will not buy them again.

OK for storage, I guess. Tried to use for kitchen waste compost. After a year, the plastic still was not broken down. Had to fish out & put into trash before using the compost in the garden. Several bags evidently were not sealed properly, so had open bottoms - couldn't use. Maybe we didn't allow enough time, but didn't want bags in our garden & the compost was ready.

I bought these to try for cat litter box disposal because I didn't like using old grocery bags. I gotta say I was very impressed. I like these so much I'm going to be ordering more. They are just the right size and I have 3 catboxes to clean out. They are strong enough for this purpose - hold up very well and my cats waste is very heavy since one is "sort of diabetic". I would recommend these to anybody who is looking for pet waste disposal bags that are environmentally friendly. I will probably start using them elsewhere in my home too.

These are the perfect size for scooping the cat box. I rest easier knowing I'm no longer filling landfills with plastic bags.

Worth the slight inconvenience,

Yes, they do tear more easily than plastic bags. Guess what? Glass bottles break more easily than plastic bottles. Plastic does have its convenience factor, for sure. However, sealing all your household waste in a plastic bag means that it won't biodegrade, and you're just contributing to the massive amount of non-biodegradable plastic in the environment, collecting persistent organic pollutants like DDT. Sermon over ;-) These bags work just fine if you don't try to over-stuff them, and if you avoid putting sharp things into them (like cardboard boxes with sharp corners). They're more convenient than paper bags, because you can tie them shut. After my first box, I have had hardly any tears, and my husband is happy because I'm the one taking the garbage out now.

Compost BioBags,

I'm not very happy with these bags. They did not come in a box like advertised, they came in a roll sans the box, and they are tissue-paper thin.
Like others mentioned, they do leak, but not horribly. I just knot the bottom and that helps a bit. I didn't think it would be worth the trouble and postage to return them, so I am keeping them but won't order the Compost BioBag again. |
