Product Description

Size: 5 Count (Pack of 4)

BioBag Lawn & Leaf Bags are a full 33 gallon capacity, measuring 32.5 inches wide and 39 inches tall. Many communities have banned the use of regular plastic bags for yard waste removal, because polyethylene-based plastic bags cannot be composted with the yard waste or burned. Until now the alternative has been paper bags. Studies show paper bags are difficult for consumers to use and store, have a limited fill capacity (usually 28 gallons), and do not hold up well in wet weather. We strongly recommend that wet grass clippings be left on the lawn, where the clippings will quickly biodegrade and add nutrient value to your lawn. Placing wet grass clippings in either a paper bag or a BioBag can stimulate bag decomposition within three or four days.

The box was on a shelf and never got wet.

I opened a second bag and it split as I pulled it off the role before I even put anything in it.

I've tried to make these bags work since I had so many with this purchase.

Each of the 4 boxes that I bought had only 4 bags in them although they were marked as containing 5 bags.

The bags are very small and very fragile even when brand new - they won't hold twigs, just leaves and grass.

One whole box of bags disintegrated in the box after it was stored in the garage over the summer. The box was on a shelf and never got wet.

There should be an expiration date or 'use by' date on the box and the boxes should be sealed in plastic. I will never buy this brand again.

I have been using the small compost bags made by this company for well over a year for our kitchen compost and am extremely satisfied with them. For that reason I was very excited to buy a box of these larger bags last week and to give them a go. The first bag I used split down the side when it was less than 1/2 full of compostable material that weighed less than a pound; it shoudl be noted that none of the material was in any way sharp. I opened a second bag and it split as I pulled it off the role before I even put anything in it. The third bag did the same thing. On it went until I had gone through every nag in the box! I am not a rough person, don't have long fingernails (that could have ripped the bags), and didn't place anything even slightly sharp or heavy in the bags that could have explained their pathetic performance. I wanted so much to have these bags work well and be as terrific and their little home compost cousins, but the box I purchased makes clear that they are just not well made. It is of course possible that the contents of the box I just purchased is defective and that the quality is not representative of the way most of the bags are. However, I am not going to take the chance and buy another box. Terrible shame.

I wanted to turn the leaves into compost and thought this was a good idea; however, the "ties" were ineffective and kept sliding off. The problem created a mess more than anything. We finally had to throw the bags in the trash.

I've tried to make these bags work since I had so many with this purchase. Quickly I realized they cannot hold even a few twigs mixed in with leaves without ripping. They also can't hold anything wet, so I had to wait to bag some leaves until dry otherwise they break under just a few pounds weight. I double bagged bags that started to rip, then had the outer bag rip anyway. When you try to tie them up or seal them, they just come apart in your hands. They rip just opening them carefully. I stored them indoors so they wouldn't melt on their own. Nothing will make these work for you. Do not buy.

These Bags ARE compost NOT Bags, they easily rip and fall apart just unrolling them from the roll. They fall apart before you can even open them no matter how careful you try to be. I never got to the point of actually putting something in them because they have the strength of compost.

I thought the curbside bind Recology uses here in San Francisco were somewhat standard. The woman even recommended these bags when I asked for a new bin to replace our completely DISGUSTING old one. Top of bis says 32 gallon, bag says 33. Should fit. Well, they don't. They're too short. First heavy load pulls them off the rim of the bin, and everything goes to the bottom is a messy pile. A great idea, but they need to be taller!

Read some reviews that said these bags tore easily or melted, etc. but I've had nothing but good luck with them! I put one every week or so in our large curbside compost bin and have had no problems. I store them in the kitchen, so they're not exposed to humidity, etc.

These bags are tough for being compostable; I use a B&D Leaf Hog to suck up and mulch the leaves into a 33 gallon plastic can. These bags didn't rip once (although you still have to handle them with care. Good buy.
