Let me just say that I would have loved for the Biosafe Thyroid test to work. The actual process of doing the test did not present a problem and the idea of being able to test at home is great. Unfortunately the results are wildly inacccurate. I've used them previously, and had my suspicions then, so decided to compare them with my doctor's lab results. I did the Biosafe test on the same day (less then 30 minutes after) my TSH at my doctor's office. After waiting almost three weeks for the Biosafe results to arrive, I was amazed to see that they were off by three points. For a TSH this is significant. I contacted the Biosafe customer service number and spoke with a representative. She forwarded my question to their lab's medical director. Basically factors such as transit time of the blood sample, and temperature of the package in the mail have to do with accuracy of test results. Which brings me to the conclusion: get your test from a doctor! Yes, mail order tests are convenient, but if the results aren't accurate, what's the point? I'm posting this so that others can have all the information before making a decision. Hope it helps.

WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS TEST. I bought this test and sent it to BioSafe in their packaging and it was "lost in the mail". They sent me a second test which was also "delayed" in transit. When they finally located it and sent me the results, they were completely wrong. I had a proper blood test done though my doctor and it showed my TSH level at 6.2, not the 2.5 reported on the BioSafe results. I feel ripped off. Either the test sample deteriorated because it took so long for them to receive it or the test itself is not accurate.

I use this test kit very often to monitor my TSH level. I report all findings to my doctor to keep her informed. I like not having to pay the high cost of traditional labs. The test kit is very easy to use and virtually pain free. The directions are precise and clear. They send your results with a graph so you can chart your progress with each test taking. All supplies needed are enclosed in kit, even the prepaid return envelope. All supplies are disposable and are designed to be a one time use only. No contamination concerns. Very recommended product. Great customer service dept. and knowledgeable staff of nurses available by phone if you need one. Make sure you follow the directions for ease of collection of blood.Very quick results that are easy to read.

So, the lancet is way too small. I had to [...] and poke and eventually took the lancet apart in order to stab myself repeatedly to get the necessary drops of blood out. Once that deed was accomplished, I rushed to the PO forgetting to close the testing device. Days later, they called me back, even playing a little phone tag with me, letting me know that I needed a new test. I mentioned the lancet problem. They sent me a new kit with a lancet that was about twice the size. This rambo lancet did the job and my kit is closed and in the mail.

PS the big lancet hurt a lot less than the small one, because I only needed to [...] myself the once.

I definitely agree with the previous reviewers that this test is easy to use, self-contained, has very clear instructions, etc. I'll also add that the support is GREAT. They have a nurse practitioner there to take your questions if you have them and they have operators that help out with any other questions. I've had nothing but great experience with this test, and it's been helping me monitor my TSH levels as I come OFF of Synthroid through use of Acupuncture and Herbs. I highly recommend this product!!!

today is day 28 that i sent the biosafe product off for testing and still no results. this is the second time i have tried this product and both times it has been disappointing. never again

I have used Biosafe's home tests a number of times. I've had to repeat the tests a few times--their explanation was not enough blood was given the first time. I can accept this. What I cannot accept is the "customer-service-with-an-attitude" that I received with every dealing with the company on the phone. They are defensive and reactive with every query. I still have not received by mail my test results which they say were completed two weeks ago. When I called to query the delay I had to put up with a harangue. If a product is not backed up with good customer service, then one should look elsewhere.

I've used this test twice and am ordering again. I didn't have trouble with the lancet as others did, but the first time it did take a while to collect enough blood. The second time I kept my sample hand lowered while reading the instuctions, then stood over a low stool so my hand was as low as possible while I collected the sample, and it worked great. The results came back quickly, and I like the fact that they keep a record of your readings from previous tests. I'm pregnant now, and although my dr is monitoring me, he checks only every other month, so I'm ordering two more to fill in. Great option if you're concerned about your level of care or don't completely agree with your Doc...

I had some problems with the lancelts like some other reviewers, I had to go out and buy some extras. If I had ever used them before, I think it would have been ok, but it was my first time. I had some problems getting enough blood out of my fingers, I washed them with warm water, rubbed them together and waited 30 seconds like the directions say, but my hands weren't warm enough to get enough blood flowing. I ended up having to wash my hands in warm/hottish water for a few minutes, and then it was pretty easy. It says to wait until the white X turns red and then you know you have enough blood, and I thought it would turn really red, but it didn't, it just turned off white. So, just a thought to remember, watch the color change carefully. I needed my results a day or two early (I mailed it out Wednesday, got the results back the Saturday after), and the nurse on the phone was incredibly nice and she faxed them to me free of charge. Despite my problems, I was extremely please with this test and I would use it again or one of their other products. Oh, and I read on another webpage they use FedEx, and mine uses USPS, just in case anyone was wondering.
