Product Description

Platform: Mac Download | Edition: Standard

Indebted to the wrong people, with his life on the line, veteran of the U.S. Cavalry and now hired gun, Booker DeWitt has only one opportunity to wipe his slate clean. He must rescue Elizabeth, a mysterious girl imprisoned since childhood and locked up in the flying city of Columbia. Forced to trust one another, Booker and Elizabeth form a powerful bond during their daring escape. Together, they learn to harness an expanding arsenal of weapons and abilities, as they fight on zeppelins in the clouds, along high-speed Sky-Lines, and down in the streets of Columbia, all while surviving the threats of the air-city and uncovering its dark secret.

Features:

  • The City in the Sky. Leave the depths of Rapture to soar among the clouds of Columbia. A technological marvel, the flying city is a beautiful and vibrant world that holds a very dark secret.
  • Whip, Zip, and Kill. Turn the city’s Sky-Lines into weaponized roller coasters as you zip through the flying city and dish out fatal hands-on punishment.
  • Tear Through Time. Open Tears in time and space to shape the battlefield and turn the tide in combat by pulling weapons, turrets, and other resources out of thin air.
  • Vigorous Powers. Throw explosive fireballs, shoot lightning, and release murders of crows as devastatingly powerful Vigors surge through your body to be unleashed against all that oppose you.
  • 1999 Mode. Upon finishing BioShock Infinite, the player can unlock a game mode called “1999 Mode” that gives experienced players a taste of the kind of design and balance that hardcore gamers enjoyed back in the 20th century.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game October 12, 2013

As many websites and news outlets have already suggested, Bioshock: Infinite is amazing. The game features great first-person shooting mechanics, phenomenal acting and great story to boot. The Mac version worked great. I have not played the game anywhere else so I couldn't compare it. I played on a Macbook Pro and it ran smoothly and I barely ever experienced any drops in frame-rate. Definitely a great buy. I urge you to check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent game + cheaper price trick! January 15, 2014
Platform for Display:Mac Download|Edition:Standard
Brilliant game - just get it! Fantastically told story.

But - if you want it on a Mac, buy the PC download version if cheaper (currently half the price). Amazon gives you a code and you use a program called steam to download the game (see how it says Steam under DRM up top), but with bioshock on steam the PC code lets you download the Mac and vice versa - it doesn't matter which code you get - so get the cheaper one on amazon. Steam calls it universal play.

Have fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game works well on the mac December 31, 2013
Platform for Display:Mac Download| Edition:Standard|Verified Purchase
This game works through steam. But unlike most steam games that have been ported to mac there weren't any problems. I was playing a macbook retina and managed pretty decent settings. Definitely worth a play through if you like Bioshock or shooting games!

2.0 out of 5 stars An In-Depth Review (No Big Spoilers I Promise) January 7, 2015
Platform for Display:Mac Download| Edition:Standard|Verified Purchase
Bioshock Infinite is an overrated game. First of all, nothing about it actually seems to fit the model for a Bioshock game. It's like they pulled a mostly finished sky based shooter and added plasmids [which, A) aren't called plasmids, and B) don't have a good explanation on why they have these sea-slug based drugs in a city in the sky] and an ending loosely tying it to the plot of the Bioshock games. Burial at Sea does a better job at tying up the connection, but still, you're not supposed to make DLC be /that/ vital to just making a sequel look like its supposed to fit. Next, Booker (you) isn't a very good guy. He's a mass murderer (he was part of the Trail of Tears and Boxer Rebellion if my memory fits), and not just as a normal soldier, but a very distinguished MASS MURDERER. I know this is a game about fighting your way through a city to rescue someone, but I mean, your good guy shouldn't be the guy who killed women and children. Like, couldn't it have been something else to show he was a skilled fighter, couldn't he have just been a boxer. Whatever. Third, the girl you're rescuing, the one you're on an ESCORT MISSION to save, doesn't need ANY PROTECTING. She just sort of walks through these serious firefights throwing ammo that she finds at you, which is great and you dont think about it that much mid-firefight, but COME ON. One detail, Ken Levine, ONE DETAIL. Finally, of all bioshocks, of ALL of THEM, the one called INFINITE has ONE. ENDING. No choices. Even things you think are choices, they aren't. Just, buy Bioshock. If you've played Bioshock, play Bioshock 2 (it's not the best, but it is much better than infinite and has a great elaboration on all of Rapture's backstory and what not. Read more ›

so I can see why some people might feel the mechanics are too familiar/repetitive if they too have already played the original Bioshock game, but for me, what makes Infinite only slightly more enjoyable than the original were the gorgeous graphics that create Columbia. On the other hand, as one critic has already mentioned, the variety of weapons just isn't that impressive and killing one particular character (who will remain nameless) can feel quite tedious and time-consuming. On the bright side, riding the skyline is quite exhilarating--as dorky as that sounds--and I found myself jumping on it as often as possible.

Code worked fine, though the process to get it installed took awhile (you will also have to install Steam, but that's free and easy). It works well on my Macbook--which is a 2012, but has a 2014 hard drive/system. Some people are complaining about the graphics, but they turned out beautifully on my computer. (Did they know they can change the resolution on the main menu?) The game is also fantastic, but other people gush about it enough that I don't have too. If you can get it cheap--go ahead. Its about 14 hours of beautiful game play.

5.0 out of 5 stars BioShock - an incredible game June 26, 2014
Platform for Display:Mac Download| Edition:Standard|Verified Purchase
BioShock Infinite is an incredible, fun to play, visually rich game. Having never played a BioShock game before I had no idea what to expect. I'm stunned. The smooth game-play and visual detail make the game enjoyable to play. Add to it the twists & turns in the storyline and you have something exciting. Way to go!

This game is great! The story line is weird and entertaining and the game play itself is engaging. An awesome continuation of the previous BioShocks.
