After fifteen years of having dogs, I'm only contributing their waste to land fills now,

(There's a touch of humor in the title of this review. Just so ya know.)
We'd been looking for a bag that was fully biodegradable, and yet didn't fall apart when you were ready to pick up our dog's waste. We found a bag that you could flush down the toilet, and that was a great idea, but the bag was too small. We have two dogs, and even though together they barely crack 20 pounds, we needed a decent sized bag. After all, we want to keep our hands clean while being environmentally conscious. These bags work great. While not as large as a plastic grocery bag, it's perfect for our needs. I would imagine that this size would work fine for larger dogs too. While the bag isn't "Glad Tough", it is as sturdy as it needs to be, and hasn't fallen apart yet.

I love these! I will order the large ones next time though because my 75lb. dog is just a little too big for this size. I love how they are biodegradable and safe for the environment.

These are just what I was looking for. They are TOTALLY biodegradable, (that's why they cost more, I guess) as I didn't want to just add disintegrated plastic into the land fill. The size is perfect, and easy to use.

These bags are awesome!! They are very durable when you use them - no tears, rips, or holes - which makes it hard to believe they are 100% biodegradable (read other reviews about the biodegradability standards they adhere to). The texture does feel different than other bags, since they are not petroleum-based. I like them so much that I'm considering gifting a box to my dog-owning neighbors that don't always clean up after their dogs...
This standard size works pretty well for my 35 pound dog (who lets it all out at once... just ONCE a day), although on some days, I wish they were a bit bigger, especially if there's a lot of dead leaves, etc on the ground that I tend to accidentally pick up, too (but not often enough to warrant switching up to the large size bags). I was slightly confused about how to seal the bag according to the instructions, and am still not 100% sure I'm doing it right, but I figured out a way that works for me. The bags come all connected together (grocery bag style), since they are meant to be hung off the really expensive dispenser. I just take them all apart when I open a new box, so they are easier to grab one at a time. I just wish they came in a roll that you could use to refill those little doggie bag dispensers that attach to leashes!

Exactly what I was looking for in a poop-bag,

With so many imitation "green" products on the market, BioBag really lives up to their name. The bags are great and do exactly what they need to do. The bag is like a smooth and thin black "plastic" bag that can easily be tied after use. While my dog is only 45 pounds, the bag accommodates her needs with room to spare. I can even pick up multiple loads in the backyard and the bag handles the volume just fine. Count on it, I'll be sending these bags as gifts to all of my dog-owner friends this year, to get them on board with this truly dependable and environmentally sensitive product.

The regular size is fine for my spaniel. I can even eek out a second use if he goes twice on the same walk. I usually just knot the end rather than follow the directions on the bag because the instructions don't really fasten the bag closed.

The extra dollars a month is worth knowing that these bags are 100% biodegradable. My old plastic bags were marketed as 100% biodegradable but in tiny small print "not by california standards" I felt so cheated! I use the entire biobag line of kitchen bags, trash bags, and now poop bags. I will never go back to using regualr plastics!!

Biodegradable waste bags made of corn products which are more environmentally friendly than most of the alternatives. Easy to use, sanitary and good for the environment, what's not to like.

Regular Size is too Small,

The nice thing about the BioBags is that they open easily (the sides don't get stuck together), and that they are biodegradable - although, I'm not sure how beneficial the latter is if the bags end up inside another non-biodegradable bag, e.g. in the town park.
The problem with the BioBag (regular size) is that it is only 7.4" wide, as compared to 8.5" for the Mutt Mitt and 10.7" for the Pooch Pick-Up bag. (All measurements are of one side of the bag, when it is opened and laid flat.) Instructions show you putting your hand through the bag and picking up the poop, and pulling it back through the bag. Unfortunately sometimes it is a tight fit to get your hand plus the poop back through this bag. If the poop is on the messy side, it can easily touch and stick to the inside top of the bag, and then maybe to you. (My experience is with a medium sized dog, but I think you could have the same problem with a small dog.) I find myself being very careful pulling the poop through, and I have sometimes had to put the dirty bag inside a second bag...then get out some sanitary wipes for my hands. The BioBag has from 1 to 3 dime-sized holes near the top (not sure why the hole punching seems to be inconsistent), so you can use one as a carrying handle by looping it over a finger. The actual purpose of the holes are so that you can pull through the other side of the bag as a way of closing it.

These bags are great for cleaning the cat litter too! I have 3 cats and 1 bag holds a days worth.
The bags are strong and make you feel better about your impact on the environment. Each set of bags has holes at the top that make it easy to hang up and then just tear off a bag when you need it. |
