Book Description

April 2000
Ken Yeang is an inventive and prolific architect. Underlying the buildings and projects of the last 15 years--updated in this new edition--is a program of cutting edge research, development and design, focusing on a new building type, the bioclimatic skyscraper--tall buildings whose architecture derives from a systematic understanding of the role climate can play in finding forms and technologies that are energy efficient and that enhance the quality of life for occupants. The projects described here represent stages in that program, showing a commitment to innovative design achieved in a commercially-competitive context. The book also presents the theoretical framework for Yeang's design work, and looks to the future, to explorations of wind energy and new environmentally-friendly or reactive materials.
