Biodiesel America is a great book. Unlike Dolton Rocha I did read the book and found out what Mr. Dalton Rocha did not. One is the old saying, "Do not judge a book by its cover", holds true.

I found out that Biodiesel is not the singular solution for our energy crisis. Mr. Tickell puts everything into perspective showing how we will have a multiple solution to breaking dependence on foreign oil of which Biodiesel, Ethanol and other biomass and renewable fuels will all be part of the total solution.

Biodiesel America points out that there are many sources other than soybean oil for feedstock for biodiesel production. Soybeans are only a small portion of the crops that can be used to produce biodiesel and is not necessarily the best.

Biodiesel America is a must read for every true American. We need to all pull together to rise out of this crisis and break our dependence on oil and fuel from external sources.

I just hope many people read this book and learn about all of the possible solutions that are available to America. Biodiesel America teaches us that we cannot be narrow-minded in what will lead us to the final solution of independence.

Finally, this book is a must read for every politician in the country no matter the party orientation.

Biodiesel America is more than just a wake-up call about the political, economic and social costs of our nation's energy dependence. It provides a useful background about how we got into this situation. It delivers a balanced insight into the alternative energy strategies available today. Tickell uses biodiesel as the flagship example of how a successful alternative energy model can work across all sectors including agriculture, government, education and business. Unlike many "social impact" books this one is well researched with an extensive bibliography, glossary and end notes. Best of all it provides a prescription of how individuals can start taking control of their energy independence. If you want a balanced and thoughtful perspective on our energy future I highly recommend you read this book and share it with family and friends.

Finally a solution that makes sense for America's growing gas crisis. This book explains not only how Biodiesel can wean America off of fossil fuels, but also what an enormous profit the farming industry could make growing fuel. Tickell's writing style is clear and will not leave you scratching your head in confusion. All points are well thought out and researched. Now the question is, how can American government continue to ignore the growing Biodiesel movement?

It is refreshing to have an activist like Tickell write in such an even-handed tone. He acknowledges that bio-diesel is not the only solution, but one of many. Tickell also gives due credit to groups from all parts of the economic-political spectrum: from local farmers to BP oil company to Senators from both sides of the aisle, even the President. It is easy to see Tickell as the down-to-earth businessman that he is, rather than some out-of-touch dude living in a tree!

This book will bring out the optimist in all of us, something I think the USA desperately needs!

Josh Tickell hits the bullseye with Biodiesel America. Josh has taken a plethora of dry statistical references and put all that data in to an easy to read format.

He meets the issues of our dependence on foreign sources for energy head on and points out the need to wean the United States off of foreign oil. He shows the need for all people regardless of political leanings to work together to solve the energy problems that we will face in the near future.

Josh uses emperical data to point out the amount of oil remaining in the world and brings to light the fact that we need to do something or we soon will be the losers.

Just today, the President of Venezuela is threatening to "Cut the oil off to the United States." He believes that we cannot change to another source of fuel. This book should be required reading for all Americans. If we would be using alternative fuels, we could say go ahead we do not need you!

I strongly recomend this book for anyone who wants a very readable overview of the biodiesel world. This book is just as engaging to someone seasoned in the renewable fuels industry as those that are just being introduced to this important subject. Josh Tickell explains things to just the right depth, tackling complicated concepts with straighforward language that helps you understand its relavance.

An excellent overview of this country's energy history and energy options and a good starting point from which to learn more. Not a left wing political rant nor an argument for biodiesel as an energy panacea. Tickell emphasizes the economic costs of our energy dependence and the benefits of energy self-sufficiency from a practical perspective - certainly a highly relevant subject in light of the turmoil in the Middle East.

How many reasons do we need to stop burning fossil fuels?

This book gives an excellent intro to the history and current state of the biodiesel industry. Although many say it's not a "silver bullet" to solve our energy situation, it's got the potential to be a major player.

Now we need to work on building the potential rapid demand for biodiesel. That means having more diesel cars. Unfortunately, US manufactures/consumers have dropped the ball compared to those in Europe. If cars were made using carbon fiber rather than steel, biodiesel powered cars might actually be a "silver bullet" solution. That's another book.

Josh did a great job in writing about, not only Biodiesel, but also other sources of energy besides finite fuels. He does a great job of explaining how biodiesel is not the silver bullet to end our dependency on fossil fuels, but rather one of a number of other sources of energy (including ethanol, wind, solar, hydro-electric, hydrogen, etc). He also does a good job of giving ideas that we all could easily reduce the amount of energy we consume that will not alter our current lifestyles. I highly recommend this book to those just learning about Biodiesel & Ethanol, as well as those who understand it, but would like more information about it.
