About the Author

Jack Ahern is professor and department head of landscape architecture and regional planning at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is the author of Guidebook to the Landscape Architecture of Boston (The Hubbard Trust, 1999) and editor, with Julius Fabos, of Greenways: The Beginning of an International Movement (Elsevier, 1995). The Landscape Architecture Foundation is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is the preservation, improvement, and enhancement of the environment.
