"Natural Born Heroes" by Christopher McDougall
Just as "Born to Run" inspired readers to get into the natural world, this book will inspire them to leave the gym and take their fitness routine to nature.
I have read a number of biographies and autobiographies of people who were involved in the opening of the west; they all mentioned the contributions of Jim Bridger. I decided I better research Old Jim. A respected, famous and popular trapper, business man and scout who made and retained friends; both red and white. This book is written by General Grenville Dodge, hero of the Civil War, friend and confidant of Grant, Sherman and Sheridan. He was ultimately in charge on mapping the transcontinental railroad and getting it built. He spent as much time with Bridger, directly and indirectly as any of the folks that opened the West. It isn't as exciting as some of the adventures that I have read in excerpts from other biographies but is a nice summary of Bridger's contributions.
