Arthur Godfrey is certainly one of the forgotten stars of radio and early TV, but one of the greatest broadcast pioneers. During the 1950s, Godfrey was on TV and radio, literally morning, noon and night with the Arthur Godfrey Show, Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts, Arthur Godfrey and his Friends and, for a while, a ukelele playing insruction show!--all on the Columbia Broadcasting System--CBS! Arthur was so popular, that he was responsible for the largest share of talent-generated revenues for the network.

This video outlines his slow rise to fame as the casual, likable radio announcer to one of TVs first superstars, and highlights his decline in popularity beginning with his on-air firing of his discovery, popular "Little Godfrey" singer Julius La Rosa.
