People magazine rated him the sexiest man alive in 1988. He failed the bar (twice), founded a political magazine, and was even poked fun at on
Seinfeld. It was assumed he would run for office someday, heir to the political throne in a way no other American could ever be.
Biography: John F. Kennedy Jr., Child of a Dream takes a look at the little boy who grew up in the limelight, a man who was famous for being famous.
From the marriage of his parents and his school years through his founding of George and his marriage to Caroline Bisset, Biography chronicles the life of John John (a name given him by the press and never used by his family) using home movies, TV clips, and plenty of interviews with biographers, reporters, professors, White House insiders, and even his flight instructor. The best parts of this tribute are the early footage, taken by White House photographer Cecil Stoughton, in which we see John Jr. taking golf lessons from his father and marching about in a helmet with a toy gun. The later years are sketchy--we learn of his romances with stars Madonna and Daryl Hannah, but we don't get a glimpse of how they were or why they failed. Both the assassination of his father and his death are covered with tact, without being overly sentimental. Despite the lack of in-depth study, this is a tasteful and considerate portrait of a man who should have had many, many more years. --Jenny Brown
